Trivial things in cartoons that annoy you

Cartoons are capable of having glaring things that irritate us, but what about the small things? What are some arguably trivial things that many cartoons do that bug you?

One for me is people eating noisily. This consists of several different areas, from characters making a loud "aaaomping" noise when they bite down on something to making sounds while they're chewing to swallowing with a big "gulp" noise, especially when they're eating something small that doesn't warrant such an exaggerated sound.

What little things in cartoons bug you?

Hmm, the only one that currently comes to mind is blinking. A character can be in a scene for five minutes and only blink once. I like to know that when someone's in the foreground that the characters in the background are also doing something.

Things that bug me on a small level are seeing the same expressions used over and over again. Characters don't only have five ways of displaying emotion, there are many ways to do it. So why limit?

Oh, where to start?

If it's an action show:

Laser guns instead of normal guns.
Characters with swords or blades that never cuts anyone.
Characters that are supposed to be normal are showing super human feats.
Saying crud instead of crap.
Not daring to say drugs or steroids, instead they say, "the green" or similar.

Anime, alot of it is annoying and the reason to why my intrest in it is so low:

Stiff.
Loud.
Trying too hard.
Awkward.

Cartoons are harder, I just say, whatever it's a cartoon.

Saying crud instead of crap.

The stiffness,
the non funny jokes,
in a show based on cave men.

Or, the villain saying "I will destroy you," rather than "I will kill you," sending people to the shadow world instead of hell, and no matter how hurt you get, you never bleed. But I will say a lot of that is due to censors.

Didn't DBZKai edit the blood as grey instead of red?

This applies to live-action too, but cartoons that expect you to laugh just by making a pop-culture reference. Not a joke, mind you, just a reference.

I remember when I was little the fact that Goofy doesn't have a tail bugged me to no end. His name also bugged me. I always thought that he should have a named like David Dog or Henry Hound.

I'll loosely quote what Louis from Even Stevens said: "and why does Pluto get stuck in the dog house and where a collar while Goofy, who is also a dog, gets to drive around and play golf all day with Mickey!?" I also found that quite weird. But it took me a while to realize that Goofy didn't have a tail.

Well, in Disney's defense, Goofy's original name was Dippy Dawg. Disney's directors starting referring to the character as "The Goof", which later became "Goofy" and the characters official name was changed.

Something that used to kind of bug me was how in G.I. Joe, the soldiers of Cobra could not aim; Cobra's soldiers would fire multiple red lasers at the Joes and not hit their target once, yet a Joe could take down an entire squad of Cobras with only a single blue laser blast.

I'm also mildly annoyed by how the Trix rabbit's eyebrows float above his head and how Cap'n Crunch's eyebrows are on his hat.

Well, it's not something you laught out loud for. Often it get's really annoying after a while, Fairly odd parents comes to mind:shrug:.

Sometimes it can be funny or giving you a thinker(that's the funny:sad:).

The sound effect for blinking. That little noise annoys me to death. It's just not necessary. Also, feet that don't look like feet. Drawing some sort of cartoon foot is simple, so why not?
Something that I am guilty of is not having characters ever change their clothes. I see why they don't, but they could at least change every season. Your clothes would get awfully smelly if you had to wear them everyday.

I agree. A badly drawn human foot is truly repulsive to look at (at least I think so).

In their defense, just because cartoon characters wear the same outfits everyday, that doesn't mean that they never wash them. ;)

I have a real peeve about Adam's apples in general so whenever I see a character like Shaggy's Adam apple being displayed prominently when he's gulping , it makes my skin crawl.

One thing that really gets me now is the mouth flapping. In lots of old cartoons that I love, particularly H-B stuff, I watch it now and and the when I see the lips moving out of sync it just makes me groan. Another similar thing happens during the musical numbers in the shows featuring bands (Josie, Chan Clan, etc). Since it's mostly the same animated cycles used sometimes it looks like the characters are moving in beat with the song but then other times it just drives me crazy when they're ridiculously off. It will seem as though all they'll do is change the speed of how the characters move, so they look like they're just swaying or clapping like maniacs to some other song than the one we're hearing.

He was alien. It has nothing to do with the censors.

Ok, just kidding.
BTW, I dislike it when anime people puke up gallons of blood after getting punched, usually in the stomach.

I love when they bleed after getting sliced, but come on! No one could puke that much up!

Whenever anthropomorphic animals are shown doing things like owning pets, going to zoos, getting jobs as dogcatchers, etc. it's just...wrong somehow to me.
