Trigun

So i just watched an entire anime series in one sitting. Never done that before.

After finally getting to sleep after watching the last ep of Trigun, I gotta say I really enjoyed it. i have heard the manga goes into a lot of greater detail on some things but I think the story the anime tells is decent enough. Legato is way creepier without the sympathetic background and Knives' motivations are explaiend good enough in the anime. (I've read some think they were crap and simplistic but they make sense to me)

Really liked the butterfly-spider scene and his first real introduction by killing Chapel.

So yeah, Knives, Vash and Millie were probably my favorite characters.
Does anyone else thinK Vash and Milly had a lot more in common in terms of personality? They both got that goofy Stupid Yet Smart attitude and then there's their shared love of drinking.

But yeah. I have been being told to watch this for years and I finally did and I really enjoyed myself.

Trigun is a pretty great anime. Oddly enough I never liked it back when I 1st tried watching the series as it aired on Adult Swim. It was only several years later when I watched the entire series on DVD that I truly changed my mind about it, and completely fell in love with its interesting plot and really fun (and sometimes serious ) characters.

I have also heard great things about the manga, so I plan on checking that out sometime during this Summer, when I will actually have the time to read a full manga series.

The anime and manga are pretty much completely different after the 3rd volume of the manga, which is a given since the anime was made 9 years before the manga finally reached its end in 2007. Trigun is 3 volumes long (the anime adapts mostly just that, with lots of differences) and the story is continued in Trigun Maximum which is 14 volumes long.

You should read it, personaly i think its far better (then again i always think/say that about amost original manga), Trigun is a much deeper story then what is just shown in the anime, its a lot more epic too.

I have never read the manga, but I enjoyed the anime a whole lot. It started off strange for me though, at first it seemed like Vash was going to be a bad ***** tough guy who kicks butt and takes names on a daily basis, but then he turned out to be kind of nerdy and silly until midway through the series where he got all epic on us and became a tough guy again. It was weird to me, but I enjoyed the story behind the anime and I really liked a lot of the music in the series, it mixed well with the action and drama.

Maybe someday I'll get around to reading the manga, but for now the anime definatly stanRAB up as one of the best anime's of the late 90's in my opinion, it's not Cowboy Bebop good, but it's darn good.

I also like Trigun, but I've never thought about checking out the manga. A series that uses guns for action just seems like I'll get more enjoyment out of it when watching moreso than reading. That's why I never bothered with Hellsing, although I did give Black Lagoon a shot (great artwork), and while I did think it was good, I still got more enjoyment out of the action when it was on the big screen.

I've never thought much about Knives character. While I don't have anything against him (I don't hate Knives, but I don't like him either), I just thought Legato was a more dynamic character than he was. But then again my favorite episode was when Legato was first introduced.

I like the characters although I did find Meryl to be on the annoying side at times. It's been a long time since I've seen Trigun, but from what I can remeraber, she came off as a bossy damsel. Can't stand damsels, but like strong female characters. Milly was just to wacky for her own good till it was hard to not like her. But of the entire cast, Legato and Vash were definately my favorites.

Trigun was really cool, it had it's moments of pure awesomeness and then it had it's "what the heck?!" moments but all in all it was a good anime and is definitly worth checking out. It was funny watching the anime for the first time some years back because by all the previews and trailers I saw for the series they depicted Vash as being almost like a "Terminator" from the Terminator movies, he appeared stone cold and down to business, but after seeing the first episode it became apparent that he was going to be a mixed bag of many different personalities and it turned out to be really good. I actually plan on doing a review of this anime for my blog (check sig) so when I get around to it it will be interesting to see what kind of emotions this series draws out of me while I'm in review mode and not just posting in a thread on a messageboard.
