Tri-LED Light on Street Glide

Mine went out on my '07 after about 3 or 4 months or so after I bought it. They replaced it under warranty with no problem. I think they said it had water or moisture in too.

Water is what usually kills a LED light. It doesn't hurt the actuall LED but the other electronics it takes to make it work. the mositure corrodes connections and or diodes and resistors to put the end to it. LED lights are popular on semi's that i sell and we see alot of this. but the truck light MFG give them a life time warranty no matter what happens.

Had my friend (Union Electrician) check it out with a meter. No idea what it was (Didn't ask) he said the current was flowing and that the led was bad.

I took his word.

had mine installed saturday under warranty.they didn't say why it went out.hope this isn't going to be a ongoing problem.also mine took one week to come in after being ordered.

Pretty common problem on these lights, as you all know. There is no "bulb" to replace and the dealerships up here in WA want 130 buck for the sealed unit. The problem is these units are poorly sealed with silicone and collect water and dirt untill the LED board is toast.

THE FIX:

"Pilot" brand lights makes red LED strips in perfect fit 5" lengths that self adhere with 3M backing. Pick two sets up at the local auto parts store, wire them in to the unit and reseal with lots of silicone. works great, easy install, and cheapo. I'll post a fix it thread later with pics.

No problems with mine after 2 summers, but I added some silicone b4 install.
