Treo 700p to Cricket with Sprint Vision Provisioning Problem

I have a 700p and 755p that have been flashed to cricket, but when I go to the web I get the message to setup sprint's vision services. How do I get around this?

Thanks,
Chris

I had this happen on a phone I flashed from sprint to Qwest (the 755p) and it wouldn't validate until i changed the SPC to match the ESN. If you have the original SPC, try changing it back and then doing it. I'm sure you are also going to have the internet set up to work on Cricket too.

Hi Stevekice,

I'm not sure if I understand correctly on your posts: Can we get Cricket's internet on Sprint Palm Treo 755p? I've tried mine and it keeps saying that the Sprint's vision crap has to be update before blablabla...and exited

Thank you,

;^) Yep, it can be done. I've got Cricket Internet working on my Sprint Treo 755p.

:^/ To get around Sprint Provisioning we need to go to the Prefs utility in the application launcher. Once Prefs is open, there are different choices available. We want the one for Network. Open it.

Now from the menu, select View Log. The Network Log opens. Scroll to the bottom to find the cursor. The log is reported in a CLI, see. Type help or ? and you'll get a list of supported commanRAB. (Interestingly, the commanRAB help and ? aren't listed, so it makes me wonder what other undocumented commanRAB exist...)

:^/ The command we want is pdpset. Type pdpset 1 and hit the return key. This opens/creates a new network setting which we can use instead of Sprint Provisioning, the default. Hit the Done button to return to the Preferences tool for Network.

;^) Now for the fun part; instead of altering Sprint Provisioning, we're just going to create our own network setting to use instead.

:^/ Dang, I left part of it out:

If you haven't done this before, after you type pdpset 1 and hit the return key, the Treo will ask you for a pass code. The code is 000000.

;^) The rest is as I related....

thanks for you instructions on the 755p

i did exzactly how your instructions above provided., it worked great i can login in and browse

wap.cricket.metoricy.com and any other cricket related website.

but when i type in

www.google.com or www.yahoo.com and i get this error.

"Error; Requested content "www.google.com/ cannot be accessed . You do not have access to the site. "

so i called cricket to try to add internet services to my phone and they said no. they can not add it. i dont know why but she said she was not able to add that feature to my phone.

so i went to a local cricket store the one who flashed my treo 755p. and i tried to have them add it from there computer, and they could not do it either, they got an error when they would try to do it.

so, i am wondering what is next? what do i do now..

all i want the services for is for pop3 access. i am still hopefull that it will work somehow,

any one got any suggestions???

:^/ Well, if you're able to get to any site at all, it means that the hardware and software are working correctly, so it's just a matter of securing permission from Cricket to use the cricket proxy that we've set up in Blazer.

If the store tells you no, it's because you're using a non-Cricket phone, and Cricket doesn't want to be stuck with tech support for a model they haven't trained their representatives to support. You'll have to find a store with an employee who understanRAB what we're up to, and adRAB Internet support for you. Just make sure that he understanRAB that you understand that you're on your own to fix things if you have trouble.

Orrrr, you could visit https://account.mycricket.com/myaccount/ and log in to your account, and add Internet service to your plan there. It's $5.00 per month added to your existing account, or the $50.00 plan has unlimited Internet included. I believe there's also a one-time $15.00 fee for changing plans.

The Cricket staff made me upgrade to the $50.00 plan instead of adding $5.00 internet to my existing $35.00 plan, but it's worth it to me so I went ahead and did it. You may have to also.

If you haven't a login account at Cricket yet, go ahead and make one. Your Username will be your telephone nuraber, then you pick out a password of your own. It's easy enough. You can also pay your bill online instead of waiting in line at a store and then coughing up an extra $3.00 for the "convenience" of doing so.

[Edit]
:^( For what it's worth, I can't get pop3 working for my mail server yet, though the Internet as a whole works fine. This is likely because Cricket supports only ports 80 and 8080, while pop3 uses others. Still, web-based mail should work, if you find one suitable for mobile phone-sized screens.
