Treo 650 vs. Cingular 8125

I know both of these may seem outdated nowadays but these phones appeal to me the most because of the lower price in the smartphone category.

I haven't had much experience with the MS Pocket PC software. I've had some experience with the Palm OS (used to own a Tungsten E PDA). Very easy to navigate.

I like the 650 because of the smaller and more compact size vs. the 8125. The phone itself looks great and the keyboard layout is excellent.

I like the 8125 because of the larger screen and the built in WiFi. Plus the camera is better (includes flash as well). However, this phone is much thicker than the 650.

I was just wondering if the WiFi is worth that extra 50-70 dollars. I can live with a lower resolution camera, but the WiFi is just a really good plus in my book.

Any opinions are appreciated.
 
The 8125 is in fact exactly the same thickness as the Treo. I would suggest the 8125 to you. The palm platform is terribly outdated. and the future of Palm introducing an updated OS is questionable. Windows mobile is a great operating system. One other thing which you may not have thought about, is the form factor. The side sliding keyboard on the 8125 is much easier to type on, and the transformer nature of the device is very cool, plus web browsing on the 8125 when in landscape mode is a more enjoyable experience than on the smaller square screen of the palm.
 
I didn't realise how indispensible wifi actually was until I started to use it...and use it...and use it. It controls my Roku Soundbridges, runs SKYPE for free minutes/longdistance, listen to XM and Sirius subs(not to forget my 22K mp3 collection!), and run Slingbox player to watch my DirecTiVo's recordings or live TV...over that wifi. Does this help?
 
Ive owned both, so i can comment for sure.


Treo 650. Hands down. it's the long term and reliable "keeper". Sure the 8125 is fun, but it didnt last in my books. Wifi or 3g isnt a big step over EDGE. The one handed operation and ease of use beats upgraded features any day.
 
I'm currently leaning towards the Treo 650, but I haven't forgotten about the 8125 yet.

I'm planning to head down to the cingular store tonight to check both the phones out in person.
