Treo 650 Question... very unique...

I just ordered a Verizon Treo, that I want to activate on Alltel. I know this is a Cricket forum, but the people over here are better with flashing phones.

Heres the thing...

I live in Memphis, TN and Alltel is not offered here, although I can get a Mississippi nuraber and use Alltel's prepaid. I want to know how would I go about getting the phone to activate on Alltel because a guy said I could *228** and it would connect to Alltel. I'm scared that the phone will keep going straight to Verizon instead of Alltel.

I've seen that you can manually program the phone to connect to another network, by setting the MSL to 000000. Could I just do that and get it to connect to Alltel somehow? Or would I need a cable and all that good stuff?! (I read a post that said I could just put the nurabers and stuff (#*#000000*) in and hit *228 after putting the ESN in with Alltel.)

You'll need an Alltel PRL file to be able to connect directly to Alltel's network. Load that bad boy up, *228, and it should connect to Alltel.

With Cricket, you can give them your ESN and *228xx will connect to Cricket, but I'm not sure how well this will work with Alltel. I recommend finding a PRL, then searching how to load that to that phone, which will require a serial cable.

IF you are flashing to cricket you need a special serial cable, software, prl file. After that is done, you then give cricket the ESN and *228 your phone. If its a sprint you need to ## (your spc) # and insert your cricket min and phone nuraber and then it is activated

Well, I finally decided that I'd just go with Jump Mobile, since it pretty much will have the same features as a flashed Alltel phone. Thanks so much.

If I were to flash to Cricket, I wouldn't need a serial cable would I?
