Treo 600 to CrIcKet !

I just have gotten my verizon treo 600 recently....i needed some help on changing it to work on cricket (i have searched and read many post already)

I called up cricket:

-changed my esn nuraber to the treos
-changed the hex nuraber to the treos

Everything went good over the phone, my other cricket phone now doesnt work and thought im set. Turn on treo....

hit *228 Says "welcome to verizon wireless of the air programing...blah blah blah"

Doesnt work...

then try all the *22804 and everynuraber in between from *22800-*22809

Now whats the problem ? This is a cdma verizon phone !

These are my questions: if i go into phone info my phone nuraber is set to 253-508-3504 (must be a old nuraber, bought it off ebay NOT MINE)....but heres the question...

it says under the "ESN" my hex nuraber which is right but i thought a esn nuraber is a 11 digit nuraber (this ESN nuraber listed in phone info is my hex #) but on the back of the phone it says ESN DEC: the 11 digit nuraber which i gave to cricket along with the hex # right below the esn dec on the sticker

It also tells me in phone info:

my PRL Rev
PRL Checksum

serial nuraber, and a thing that says "Hardware" : C

what am i doing wrong? ? How can i make this thing work

now i did all this esn stuff today....should it work instantly after im done or do i have to wait a day for everything to "clear" through the computers ?

i called this guy up who does a cdma to cricket service....hes on ebay "tillmanns electronics" i think... He said that it wont work because the towers dont support it. I was wondering how you flash it....no cell phone store near me would do it.

i found these on treo central. it should work with the treo 600.

Here are the original instructions for programming the 600 they will work on the 650 also. However, jonf, you are correct. I tested the TX and RX for USB and They are different. Unfortunatley, the USB adapter end that goies into the 650 only has pin connections for the 4 usb wires and 1 for the hotsyn button. That leaves 9 more pins for other stuff that arn't even connected. So sacraficing a 650 cable would even work. SOOOO, I took a serial cable and stripped the wires down and start "poking" at the connector on the bottom of the 650 trying to get it to connect. No luck. So until we can find out exactly wich pins are the serial connections (and if it neeRAB more that just TX, RX and GRN - like does it need hanRABhaking, etc.) I cant reprogram this thing. I only have 15 days to return it too.

Required Hardware:
1. Sprint Treo 650
2. Serial Connection Cable (THORN IN MY SPINE!!!)

Required Software:
1. Qualcomm PST (Product Support Tool). You may have to search around for this, but it was last seen here: http://upstfiles.web1000.com/QPST2_7.zip
Its a really slow download.
2. Verizon PRL file (Primary Roaming List)

Required Information:
1. Your TREO 650 MSL (Master Subsidy Lock). Every TREO 650 is assigned a unique 6-digit MSL code.
You must either use special software (BitPIM or UniCDMA) or convince someone at Sprint to give it to you. There were some tricks to doing that somewhere on this forum. There were a few people out there willing to obtain your MSL for a fee ranging anywhere from $5 to $50, but it seems that Sprint somehow put an end to that.

Step 1: Changing Sprint's TREO 650 PRL, MSL and Phone Nuraber.

1. Install PST Software
2. Connect TREO 650 using the Serial Cable. ?????????????????????UGH! NO USB SUPPORT SO FAR!
3. Turn on the Treo and enter the phone mode
4. Punch ##3424 followed by dial button.
You should see the message "Passthrough Enabled"
5. Launch the "Service Programming" program
(Start -> Programs -> Qualcomm PST -> Service Programming).
6. Select your phone "Surf" in the Phone Selection dialog box and click OK.
7. Select the "Settings" tab (if not already there).
8. Press "Read from Phone"
9. At the "Enter Service Programming" dialog box, enter the phone's original MSL code.
10. After reading all information, change Service Programming to 000000.
11. Click the CDMA Tab
12. Change the MCC box to 000 (3 zeros) (Write down ALL your original values for possible future use)
13. Change the 11_12 box to 00 (2 zeros)
14. Change the "directory" and "IMSI_S" boxes to your 10 digit Verizon phone nuraber (no dases).
15. Click Roam Tab, and click the "Browse" button.
16. Locate and select the Verizon PRL file.
17. Click the "Write To Phone" button. Wait about 1 minute.
18. Disconnect the Treo

Step 2: Activating your Phone

1. Go to http://www.verizonwireless.com
2. Login to your account and register your TREO 650 ESN.
3. Dial 611 and you should get a Verizon message.
4. You can now dial *228 to update your PRL and Phone setting.
5. If you have "Roaming" message on phone screen, punch ##3825 or ##727 or ##2362 the Dial. This is because the TREO 600 sometimes works as PCS only or CDMA only. 3825 means "Dual", 727 means "PCS (1900Mhz)", and 2362 means "CDMA (800Mhz)".
You can check which Band is being used by punching ##33284.

i flashed a Treo 650 to cricket No problem but i haven't got a chance to play with treo 600 it kinda old phone though i would recommend you get a treo 650 it way better to invest. You need to flash it to cricket though good luck

Hey Mr. Candid... (and especially the GURUS here!)....

I have two lines of service - I have a family plan on Sprint (and I have a treo 700p on that service).. and I use Cricket for my business so that my cell bill doesn't throw me into bankruptcy. :) ...

I'd be thrilled if I could get a 650 functioning on Cricket - and I want to be able to switch these phones over for a few frienRAB of mine as well. For me, (because I also have Sprint) I'm OK just being able to sync up my address book ... but I'm sure a few frienRAB that only have Cricket would want the picture messaging to work as well.

Does your picture messaging work on the treo?

I'm trying to learn how to flash 650s over to Cricket .. and even though I've read through a load of messages, I'm still unclear on a few things.

Seems some people are saying that Verizon phones will convert to Cricket easier than Sprint ones... still confused on that.

And yeah... I've done a bunch of searching - but I have yet to find a decent set of instructions for doing this. I've been making a list of notes on what it seems is required to do the job, but some information is very conflicting. I'd really appreciate it if someone would help me clear the fog. :)

If any of you guys on here would like to make $40 to get me through the learning curve on how to do this, I'd appreciate it!

send me a personal message here... I'll be checking in here frequently until I get this resolved. :)

Thanks

Sally

Ahhhh.... I gave up..... I had a Treo 650 flashed over to Cricket yesterday by a local wireless store. $50 and well worth not having to mess with it.

The phone works great - albeit sans the picture messaging, internet & cricket clicks.

I needed for the Palm stuff... and it truly is fabulous to have all of those features on a $52 a month bill instead of hitting my Sprint bill!

:)

Happy in Colorado,

Sally

This is kind of an emergency. I am currently being sued by Virgin Mobile for reprogramming one of their phones and selling the software. They have a court order in efect right not where I can not longer do their phones or sell the program.

Everything I have learned about reprogramming cell phones, says it is legal. I could use a little advice on this matter, I am supposed to meet with their attorney tomorrow in hopes they will drop the law suit. The actual law they are quoting is the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. You can seee a PDF of it at this link.

http://www.copyright.gov/legislation/dmca.pdf

If someone with some knowledge could breeze this over for me and let me know where I stand, I would apprecieate it.

This is only Virgin Mobile phones they are worried about, could any of the other major carriers come after me too?

Just as a footnote, I am not selling the software or am I reprogramming anymore. This scares me that they come after a little guy like me, my main thing is buying and selling used phones and I am going to stick to just that, also would I be allowed to sell phones that have unlocked or previously reprogrammed before the hearing?

I really apprecieate anyones time in helping me out.

the actual reprogramming of the phone is legal, but if you are using (or selling) copyright software without the appropriate license, that is definitely not legal.

ps: you need an attorney, not a phone phreak to help you with this one.

If you read the Digital Millennium Copyright Act there is a phrase that says something to the affect that Curcumventing the Security software is what is considered illegal. That is using software, any software that gets around their security measures to unlock their proprietry software on their cell phone. Basically what they are saying is, if you use a program that gets their codes and then change or remove their codes is illegal. Or selling the software to anyone who has the intent or capabilities to change the programming on their phones. I was just wondering if there is any presidence out there that says it is legal to unlock a cell phone. Hopefully this can be settled without an attorney, but I am not on here looking for legal advice, just some information that might help. Thanks

there are no codes to locking a virgin phone to virgin. all there is is a file that tells the phone what towers to connect to. if you replace that file you're not circumventing anything, as long as the software that you use was legally aquired and licensed appropriately by all involved parties.

Yes, there is. It is called a SPC (Service Provider Code) code, you must unlock or get around that code and that is what they are saying makes it illegal. You bypass their security setting. That is what circumventing is. I could pay an attorney to fight it for everyones rights, but there are so many people that can do it, it is not worth it to me for the mealsy amount of money I got from it, whether it is Virgin Mobile, Tracfone or any other CDMA phone. If you are going to do it, be very careful, because till there is an exeption to the Digital Millenium Act for Cell Phone reprogramming, they will be hunting you down. Good Luck
