I recently posted in my local craigslist looking for someone who was interested in selling a decent bike store bike for around $100, as opposed to a department store bike.
One of the responses was from someone selling either a Trek 800 or 4300, offering either for $100. Later this evening I am going to go check them out and see if they even fit me properly. In my attempt to research them online, I have found mainly positive reviews for both.
Does anyone on here have any insight on which is a better bike? I realize the 800 is a bit older, but, reviews still sound to be pretty decent. Is there anything I should be wary about when looking at either bike, or even is there anything specifically about older bikes, like the 800 in this example, that I should be wary about?
I'll admit that I am something of a novice when looking at decent bikes, so I need guidance, heh. Thank you for your insights.
