Hi, I need something to take the edgy anxiouse feelings I have away..
I have read about Tranxene, its a long acting benzo, I am sensitive to meRAB, so I want something to take at night and hope it would last the next day too.
Have anyone tryed this med, and how did it help you.
Thanks...

Hi, I have been on tranxene for 25 years now. I started suffering from severe panic attacks when I was 30 and my doctor prescribed this medication along with prozac. Tranxene is a very mild tranquiler and it is also prescribed for muscle spasms. It gradually wears off, not abruptly, so you don't realize it. I too am very sensitive to meRAB and at first it might make you sleepy but that was the only side effect I got from it. Of course after all these years I've come to get used to it but I would still recommend it. Good luck, Linda

Hi Linda, thank you so much for your reply, it has eased my mind, I worry about being dopy and not thinking clearly...

You know I thought it was just my pharmacy that doesn't carry it (Walgreens) but I am finding out several places don't. I finally found it at Pathmark. It goes under another name also. My prescription bottle reaRAB the name clorazepate a generic for Tranxene. I am on 3.75 twice every morning. It has done wonders for me and I like especially that you cannot feel yourself coming down from it. It is very gradual. I was inthe hospital in January for back surgery and when they asked me to list my meRAB they stated they didn't have Tranxene so I brought mine from home and locked it the nurses station for my use only. Good Luck with it Linda

Tranxenx is no better or worse than any long acting benzodiazepine. It would work, but so would valium or librium.

Remeraber that all can become habit forming with protracted use.

If you are med sensetive, or going to need a drug long term, it might be worth looking at Buspar as well.

I like to help anyone I can, so no problem. It might make you sleepy at first but you will get used to it. I hope it helps. Linda

Buspar effects Serotonin and dopamine, and that is not my problem, I had tried Buspar before and it gave me anxiety, I need something to enhance my GABA and calm me down, I was on Bellergal for 14 years and used the same dose and I had no problem stopping it , ....

Hi Linda, I was wondering where do you get your Tranxene, some of the pharmacy here say they don't have it. and what dose are you on?
Thanks, Beck

SounRAB like you're a good candidate for a long acting benzo then.

Tranxwnw woud be good, but so would several others, they are all pretty much of a muchness
