Transponder 08 missing?

I am missing a number of channels, eg 603, 520 etc that are on transponder 08. When I check the signal strength on it it is zero. All other transponders seem to have a signal. The tech at BEV says that my dish may have moved. I would think that more than one transponder would be affected then.

Any suggestions? I would rather not play with the alignment if it can be avoided.

My transponder 8 is 35% lower than 2 days ago.

Transponders 6 & 2 are also way down on where they are normally.

Hmmmm, I will have to check the signal on mine as well
The LNB could be dying
Check all the transponders, and verify that they have signal
Sometimes, all evens, or odds (transponders) lose signal
Do not move the dish, I can almost guarantee it is not a dish alignment problem, unless all of the transponders are REALLY low in signal strength

All of the transponders measure above 50% in the green. It is only transponder 08 that is zero. This on both of my receivers (5900 & 3100) that have been working since Aug 2004.

I have transponder 8 at 77%.
A couple of months ago I suddenly lost only transponder 30 on the 82 degree satellite.
Unplugging the receiver for a minute brought it back.

I have a DPP Twin LNB that I bought on eBay recently but haven't installed. Is it possible that this would improve my signal strength?

A less than optimally aligned dish may cause that problem on a lower output transponder as the signal slides below the decoding threshold, but you should generally see somewhat lower signals levels across the board.

More than likely it's another component in the fleet of space junk giving way again.

Pretty soon they'll be 20 SD per TP and 4 HD per TP unless they can't some new gear up there.

How many junk satellites can you park in the same orbital slot and patch them together to get a full 32 transponder spectrum without them crashing into each other.

And then which one do you align on?
The figure 8 box has got to be getting a little baggy by now.

Same thing happened to me yesterday with transponder 14

My dish is attached to my balcony so I was able, even with a broken leg able to go see the dish. There was a small thin piece of ice on the dish. Once I took it out the channels were back to normal

No ice on my Dish's, I have used Dish Covers for years, never had to sweep a Dish yet.

Ahhh, cmon ARR, be gentle on ExpressVu:cool:
I have it, and could care less how many satellites they put up there
I like the look of the perdy dish too, not as ugly as the *choice behemoth!
You guys at *choice need a dual tuner HDPVR to sway some of the ExpressVU people over to Grandpa's choice for TV! hehe
Just kidding, but I found many people that I saw who were *choice customers were in their 50's and 60's, so no need for fancy HDPVR's...

Forgot to ask
You say they are above 50, how far above?
If the average is in the 50's, then you may need to re aim the dish

it funny you created this thread it got me thinking, so I went over to telsat's site and today and it looks like a few days in coming up and today NimiqN1 well be a bad boy and started to deviate from its orbital slot just a bit.

It doesn't sound like much but maybe its enough, that far away to bugger up one or few weak transponders!

OK, when the wind lets up, the rain stops and the sun shines (I am on the wet coast) I'll give it a shot. Anybody know of a good tutorial on aiming the dish. I found the figures for my location but have never done it before.

Today I was able to try and adjust the dish. I now have transponder 8 back at >65% and #11 was near 100%. I also put on the DPP Twin LNB and all is working fine even for Sat at 82.

Now all I need is an HD receiver and TV. :)

Thanks for the help and suggestions.
