Transmission trouble on a `01 Buick Century?

My `01 Buick Century transmission works great when I first start up my car in the morning. But after I drive it for about 10 minutes and come to a stop light I have a hard time shifting it out of second gear when the light turns green. Any gear after that is fine. But I really have to mat it hard to get it to shift. I do not think my car can take to much more hard starts off the line like this. Everyone at the stop light thinks I'm racing them, but in reality, it's the only way from me to shift. If I don't do that and start off normally it will stay in first gear for a long time then it seems to go into neutral and I have to pull over and start over again (which is embarrassing). Again, only when I first start speeding up after a stop, and I only have problems when the transmission is warm. A cold transmission shifts perfectly....Like new. I just had the transmission flushed and it didn't resolve a thing.

Idon't know what is wrong with your transmission, but i had one do the same sequence to me and i learned that if i shift to low gear manually and start off and shift manually to second gear and then to third gear it works good, but if i stop and don't shift manually it will start of f in second and strains to accelerate......try manually shifting it and see if it works fine that way.....Hope this helps you.....

Sounds like your first gear is about history. It's possible to get just the first gear repaired, but I would suggest just bite the bullet and get the whole thing overhauled. You will probably wind up having to do that eventually anyway.

im having the same prob with reverse in my 99 silverado fine in the morning but when the temp guage gets to about 200degrees it doesnt pull very good but i put lucas no slip in it and it seemed to help a little your prob is a little different i dont know if it will help or not but its worth a try i know how that transmission problems are.
