Transmission fluid in 08 Mazda 3?

I had my vehicle at the dealership a few weeks ago for the recent recall and I was informed that the transmission fluid was very brown and burned. I assumed I was being taken for a fool because I am a female. Considering the vehicle only has 22,500 miles on it. So once I got it home I pulled out the dipstick to check the fluid for myself only to find that my fluid was almost clear with a tint of yellow. I know that ATF is red. But my has no tint of red, and really no color at all brown or other wise. I have been told that it could be synthetic fluid but I have never dealt with that type of fluid or even this type of transmission. It is an automatic with the manual mode. So my question is what color is synthetic transmission fluid? And yes I'm sure I pulled out the correct dipstick.(it was red and stated MV on it) I just wanted to have some info before I go down to the dealership and give them a piece of my mind for trying to take advantage of me.
I actually have the oil changed at my local Ford dealership and I took it there this morning for a second opinion, and he stated that he seen no issue with the fluid today or 1000 miles ago when I had it in for the oil change.

The Mazda dealership is the one that stated it was very brown and burned.
It states on the receipt that the Trans flush is recommended. On the 20 point courtesy inspection it states the color of the fluid as brown. I printed off the recommended service off the Mazda's website and no were on it does it say to flush the transmission. And it has the recommended service up to 4 yrs/60,000 miles. I wiped the fluid off the dipstick on a clean white towel and preserved it in a ziploc bag. I even have my previous records for the oil change which states the fluid as good at 21,000 miles. I know I'm in for a fight but I think I'm up for it at this point.
