Transmission Fluid Chrysler town & country?

My Chrysler town & country has 60,600 miles and has never had the transmission fluid changed. I've heard if you don't change the fluid regularly its better not to change it. A neighbor told me that changing it too late could cause transmission problems. Any help/advise would be appreciated.
 
its just now at first factory recommended fluid filter change, 60,000 miles, the only time its not wise to change is if it is real black with strong burnt smell and has a gritty feel between your fingers, pull dip stick wipe between fingers feel for texture smell and color, color is not always an indicator of bad fluid, if it has never had leak and been run low on fluid you will have no problems doing service.
