I know what you are going through so well! I am in my early 40's, and this started for me in my late 30's. It's been a very frustrating 5 years for me. I have three sons, the youngest of which is a sophomore in high school this year. I have missed football games, cross country meets, plays, piano recitals, and boy scout activities because of my back pain.
I don't know about doctors where you are at, but I have the same problem. It has taken me almost 5 years to get a doc to take my transitional vertebra with a pseudoarticulation seriously.
We have done two steroid injections now, to confirm that it is the source of my pain. The first injection worked very well, but only lasted for about three weeks. I just had the second injection a few days ago. This one has not kicked in as quick as the second one. We did a nerve root injection last year at the two points where I have disc degeneration, and that did not get us very good results. That led to exploring the transitional vertebra with pseudoarticulation.
My spine specialist will be discussing sending me to see a surgeon the next time I go see him in about three weeks. The success of the first injection led him to that decision. I don't know if anything will come of it, but we will see.
Try a Osteopath that specializes in the spine. That is the type of doc I am seeing right now that actually listened to me and looked at things. Best of luck to you with this, as back pain is really miserable, and those that have not been there do not really understand it at all.
