I wa lucky enough to recently be invited to see 30 minutes of footage from the movie - some of it finished, some of it not - and I have to say it was really impressive.
Shia is excellent; the action scenes are very impressive as are the special effects namely
in the sand battles and when the Decepticons are trying to drain the mainframe military computers.
It has a nice touch of humour in there too - especially the scenes where
Shia is eyeing up the love interest as she tries to fix his car, and when he's grilled by his parents about what he does when the bedroom door is locked... while trying desperately for them not to notice the giant robots/vehicles that have appeared in their garden.
If the finished thing is as good as what I've seen then it should surprise a few people. I was worried when I first heard about the movie, but now, I'm looking forward to it.
It looks fantastic, but my only worry is the human content I dont mind a wide spectrum of humans but if it concentrates on any two people (and please no love story) then it might ruin it, but still I cant for it.
No, there are quite a few human characters in it and from what I've seen, I wouldn't call the male-female thing a love story as such.... another of my fears.
They MUST have Simon Furman's Anti-hero Grimlock in the sequel (not the cartoon Grimlock), the rivalry between Prime and Grimlock would be fantastic for the live action films.
From what I have seen I am really looking forward to this flick, I am a big fan of the original cartoon series & can't wait to see it, sure it has the action and special effects along with a rock ost, but it also has the gorgeous Megan Fox in it aka the older daughter in Hope & Faith , seriously this film is gonna prove all them critics wrong.
It's just a shame that we have to wait till the end of July till we see it, The Aussies are due to get it on the 28th June, whilst the yanks have had it bought forward to the 2nd July which is sure as hell gonna upset the producers of the new Die Hard as it will have only a matter of days at the box office before Transformers hits the big screen, still if they pull this off then not only will there be countless sequels but also other cartoons from the same era maybe given the live action treatment I hear that they are doing a Thundercats movie & another He-Man, how about finishing off Dungeons & Dragons (The Cartoon verison) or make a movie of Battle Of The Planets hehe.
Same here, was never really into Star Wars but loved Transformers growing up.
I have a HighDef version of the trailer and the attention to detail in the robots is absolutely mindblowing - put simply, I've never seen CGI at this level before....
I get the impression it will be a lot like Independence Day - total nonsense, but brilliant fun!
(oh, and they've also got the little noise Optimus Prime makes when he transforms absolutely perfect!)
