Transformers trailer - looks AWESOME!

They'd started filming some time before that script became public, certainly some of the preliminary shots with the Bumblebee and Megatron props.

I don't think it would, frankly. Sure, some things needed to be rethought (like size changing - always stupid), but utlimately something vaguely resembling the original designs would have looked much better on screen that this, because they're so overbusy that they're impossible to visually follow and at that point they may as well morph, not transform.

Well, to each his own. I wholeheartedly agree with the majority of the design changes (and I'm a geek born in 1975, so I should be up in arms about it), as - for the movie to work -they need to look like robotic alien creatures - not enormous children's toys.

Still, even I'm not sure about Prime with the mouth-guard down.

Indeed - it doesn't show much but it shows enough to intrigue - and the sound editing on it is superb.

It made my girlfriend (who doesn't share my undying love for TF) want to see the movie.

Saw the trailer in the cinema today. I have to say it does look pretty spectacular.

Visually, it's dead appealing but as for the acting we'll have to wait and see I guess.

Meh, not especially good - it's somewhat ass backwarRAB actually.

The interesting angle is that in an era of toy sales declining Hasbro are trying to follow Marvels example and turn themselves into a film franchise company reliant on nostagia.

But will that work, given they've thrown almost everything about the original series away?

Prime is being played by the same actor he was in the original cartoon (Peter Cullen).

Frank Welker who played Megatron in the original cartoon (and several other characters) is voicing someone, but not Megatron, who is being voiced by Hugo Weaving (of Agent Smith/The Matrix fame).

Chris Latta who played Starscream has unfortunately been dead for some years. No word on who's replacing him yet, though I can't imagine it'll be anything like the original considering the design for Starscream makes him look like a gorilla. They've obviously just pretty much thrown out his character concept.

Well I shall be making my feelings known when I attend a special screening of this film in a few weeks (spoiler-free). I'm definitely approaching it with low-expectations though because as it stanRAB at the moment... I am not a huge fan of Michael Bay's work. Maybe he will actually surprise me for once, who knows. The cartoon was definitely better then most of the drivel they put out to kiRAB today, that's for sure.

Im looking foward to seeing the Transformers movie.
I didnt get chance to see it at the cinema.
So I have it on pre-order on region 1 DVD as its out next month. Can't wait.
