**TRANSFORMERS MOVIE** The review you've been waiting for! v.all that shit by me

Saw this movie with my girlfriend, pretty much the same thoughts as many on this messageboard. She liked it okay - but the garbled mess of fight scenes and the movie's length gave her a headache, which is understandable, I felt the same way.

I loved the movie though, with all considering, I honestly thought it was a massive undertaking making a movie with this type of premise. Still there were things that gave me a headache very fast.

Things that kinda either drove me nuts or dissapointed me:
- Too close of shots with the Autobots.
- Transforming "sound" of shape shifting happened way too much.
- Was a half hour too long, as others have noted the first 1/3 of the film seemed to be perfect, but the last end seemed to drag on -- especially parts of the "Sector 7" portion. Should have been edited out or something.... just ridiculous.
- Michael Bay, which a lot of people hate for some reason, made the fight between Optimus Prime & Megatron end out of no where. How did Sam (Shia Lebeauf) know that sticking the cube into Megatron it would kill him? Just seemed out of no where.
- Was an absolute General Motors commercial, would've been nice for other car manufacturer's to license their cars for the film.
- Fights were really difficult to understand exactly what was going on in the end, just really seemed like a garbled mess.
-Relationships with characters like the blonde girl and black hacker guy seemed to just end out of no where. Their relationship with Jon Voight just seemed to go out the window.

ALL THINGS CONSIDERED .... I really had a lot riding on this movie; but considered I knew 90% would be CGI or special effects, I thought it looked "as real as possible" at least on the theater screen. I'm sure that will change when it's released on DVD or HD or whatever and you can tell better its effects. There's some problems sure, Hugo Weaving's voice for Prime gave me chills.

Best summer movie I've seen in years. Partly because of the cool factor of things changing, Weaving's great voice for his part, or the chase scenes between the Ford Mustang and the Camaro. Made me go nuts hearing the rumbling of those V8s.

It was an excellent film, and I got my money's worth. I plan on buying it when it comes out. Sadly the theatre was packed and I ended up sitting on the very edge of the front row.

My complaints are fairly minor.

Too many of the Transformers had small parts or spoke. They all had distinct personalities, but we hardly go to see it on most of the characters.

Making Transformers vulnerable to human weapons was a very big mistake and made me uncomfortable. I understand why it was done, but really the only way to "kill" a Transformer should be by other Transformers. Bonecrusher, Brawl, and Blackout were dispatched too quickly.
Shaking the picture nearly made me ill.

I'm sure the Transformers that got away (Scorponok, Frenzy, Starscream, Barricade) will be back, as well as Megatron.

The good stuff,

In the end, the film succeeded in making me feel like a child again. Prime absolutely made the movie for me. His character is timeless.

All of the Transformer designs work much better in the film than they do in the static shots that were bitched about endlessly on OT. The mouths did not bother me at all. They looked incredible in the film, especially the transformations and lifelike movement.

The humor was very well done and well appreciated. It did contrast starkly to the drama in the end of the film.

For those who've never seen the cartoon it did a good job explaining their origins.

I'm looking forward to a sequel for more action and I would see it in the theatre again.

I hadn't seen Alien until a couple years ago The guy who was supposed to lend me Aliens left. Currently I'm borrowing American Psycho and Taxi Driver, I've had them for a while and still havn't watched them There are so many movies that I need to see

I agree that was a little far fetched. He got pissed at Sam and drove off then does some stunt driving and then pulls up all new and badass and shit....and all that stopping in a tunnel and nobody cared?

the scene with Sam's parents where they think he's masturbating was completely unnecessary and while it was the "funny because it's awkward" it didn't do anything for hte movie, character development or the development of the story between Sam and the girl.

You guys kill me. It's the biggest movie of the summer and had an astronomical budget and you think we should have lowered expectations? I think you should have higher expectations. It's not like they can't make it an excellent movie because of the subject matter.

nothing

you see the 2 clips of his parents, then you see a clip of starscream breaking through the atmosphere with a little burning and then he flies off into space...I stayed until the house lights came back on and that was the end of it

Jazz's death meant nothing since he had little to no screen time. There was very little tension leading up to the moments before he fell at Megatrons hands.

It was such heroic nonsense.

I'm actually going to watch it again with my sister, who grew up loving the Transformers. I hope I don't start hating it watching it the 2nd time.

Short of hiring Uwe Bol, I don't know if it's possible. I'd personally like to see them pick someone who's up and coming, hasn't done any real blockbusters, maybe some TV.
