Transformers, Michael Bay's best film?

Completely agree, finally we have the technology to make a proper Transformers film and Michael Bay makes his usual MTV video looking nonsense.
Total pants from a man that doesnt seem to of moved on from making his Playboy tripe.
How do films this brainless make so much money?

How dare you, how dare you :D

The comedy between Will and Martin... the scenes with the rats, the scene in the electrical store, the scene in the morgue, the car chase with the dead bodies, the scene in the captains house after he had taken that pill.

Fantastic 2.5 hours of entertainment. I've seen this film so many times and I never get bored of watching it.

I know. But what people seem to forget is that most of his films are just "popcorn films", in that you are just meant to switch your brain off for 2 hours and enjoy yourself. He is never going to win an Oscar for best film, drama etc. Yet people still want to take a shot at him since it's not up to some high standard they have set.

Most of his work I have enjoyed including Transformers, as it was a joy to watch. The story and script may not have been the best, but the film looked good visually and that was the reason why I went to see it.

You don't need to be a chef if you voice your opinion after going to a restaurant and absolutely hating your meal.

So by the same token, you don't need to be a director to have an opinion on a film.

But if you went to an Italian restaurant and hated the food because you wanted Chinese, who's fault is that?

Fine, if you've never seen one of Bay's films before, and had expected a serious, adult film about cars and trucks and planes that turned into robots and had fights, then I can see why you would be dissappointed. On the other hand if you wanted to see a cheesy american cartoon form the 80's turned into a flash, cheesy, american summer FX blockbuster then I really couldn't recommend this film enough.

For somebody like myself who didn't enjoy Transformers.I'm not going to change my views on the movie because i can't make a movie like he did.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion

This is true.

But it doesn't change the fact that everyone has the right to offer their opinion on a film, whether they're a director or not.

And everyone has the right to criticise the work of Michael Bay (or indeed, any other 'trashy' director). I can see why people hate his work - but personally I like his brand of cheese a lot of the time.

My major criticism of Transformers would be that the final act of action was poorly directed and I was very disappointed that most of the Prime - Megatron smackdown took place off screen.

Fortunately - I enjoyed the preceding hour and forty minutes a lot.

Yours, but if you went to a Chinese restaurant and the food was bloody awful, it's theirs.

Surely a good summer blockbuster should be directed and have character designs that mean people can tell what the hell is going on for the last 45 minutes. If you cannot, that makes it a badly directed film, regardless of if it's supposed to be an action film or not.

Phazer

I still don't get the character designs. I thought they might grow on me in time but they're just a mess.

At least the Autobots are colourful though - the Decepticons are hard to distinguish thanks to their designs mainly being all grey or all black.
