...at the theater I went to. The crowd literally went nuts at the end.

Too bad about Jazz, though.

That was my favorite Autobot.

anything to do with the parents after the first third and the whole love interest thing could have gone too

there was no need for a "chick" and the movie would have done better without trying to portray a self-actualized adolescent male as a the hero instead of "some guy" who was in a heroic situation

I am compelled to add, that before anyone says that something in the movie was goofy or stupid, think about the plots and things you saw in the G1 cartoon.

Seriously...do you remember some of the stupid stuff we'd dismiss simply because we were kids? I applaud Spielberg et al for the job they did.

Why do I have to keep saying action isn't an excuse for terrible? Live Free/Fie Hard had a ridiculous plot, but it was progressed in a reasonable manner, everything fit, there was proper directing, decent jokes, good characters, and it was all the better for it. That was a fucking good action movie.

Know why this was worse? Bad characters, bad plot, bad directing. I don't know why robot CGI somehow changes the 'bad' that emanated from the piece of shit.

Sylvester Stallone once said that he wanted to do a Rambo movie with no dialog, because action movies should be movies with story told through entertaining visuals, not dialog. This is what you're getting at, that what you see matters more than what is said, but if that's the point WHY HAVE SO MUCH HORRIBLE DIALOG? CUT IT. You can't on one hand say 'the CGI is all that matters' and on the other say 'it doesn't matter that all that shitty talking was in the movie.' Everything you cut helps a movie, and apparently they didn't cut anything.

'But it's an action flick!'

A bad one.

I'm all for a fun flick, but they tried to have a plot and character development and then fell flat on their face after stepping on the rake of horrible directing/writing. If you just want fighting robots, have 1:30 of fighting robots. They should have cut the horrible extraneous bs. I'm ALL FOR fun in movies, I'm explaining why, to me, the movie was downright terrible. And honestly, everything about movie conventions agrees with me, everyone saying the action was good should agree that it'd be even better with more emphasis on action, much less on dialog and plot, right?

But more than half the film was dialog/plot/bullshit, see the problem in ignoring how bad it was?

Just shut up now. You give it an 8/10 which in your own words are “Great Movies. I'd recommend them to people, discuss liking them, watch them again, probably buy them.”

And now it's a bad film just because I called you out on some of your stupid ideas on what would have made it better.

Either you’re arguing just because you have to save face or you’re fucking bi polar.

Actually, you called me on some bullshit, but not the bullshit you expected. Making threads to discuss something and saying nothing yourself are against standard net etiquette, so I rated it before I saw it. I expected 8/10. To be fair, some numbers in a forum no one reads really don't mean much. I give the movie a 6/10, with a potential for an easy 8-9/10 if they cut all the shit that wasn't needed.

I was looking forward to it, wanted to see some discussion.

Oops, I'm not perfect. Thanks for the book report on my posts though

yeah I JUST saw it

I have to say that I was actually impressed, these movies usually piss me off and disappoint

it was surprisingly suspenseful and you like all the characters

the GM whoring was a little over the top, though. also, OP was done up too much like Trick My Truck or something. i think what they lost is that the original series was made up of archetypes, not specific models. in 10 years, people will watch this movie and be like "we thought THAT was teh new hotness?"

The GM whoring was annoying... Although I will call you on the archetype vs. specific model thing...

Almost every G1 Transformer was a specific model. Name one that wasn't...

And then I showed you how it was stupid and would have called for a whole new plot NOT JUST A MINOR CHANGE.

Net etiquette? This is OT jackass.

Back tracking much? You didn't see it but you gave it an 8/10 an made a post about it. wtf.

The problem with this is that you've defined what your rating system is and you rated a movie acording to it. Try again little one.

Uhh... did you miss my post? I made the thread in Red Carpet before I saw the movie. When I made that thread, I had not seen it. Is that clear to you?

perhaps you are right

it really has been a very long time since I watched an episode, so I didn't remember there being anything specific other than "this is a semi" and "this is a race car", etc

Geeezzz. All the people complaining about the GM whoring need to chill. It is the new way , Every film does this now. And it's going to get worse.

I don't think anyone was going in expecting Citizen Kane or anything

I think you just need to raise your standards for action movies. Not EVERY movie has to follow the same fucking template. If people could help themselves and not run out every summer with dollars in their hands clammoring to see garbage like Fast and the Furious and Armageddon, the world would be a better place. (I am guilty of giving my money to this one, but that's only because it was transformers Otherwise, my ass would have been at home).

Anyhow, my point is that you shouldn't have to dumb yourself down to the level of a drooling zombie to enjoy an action flick. MANY have been done in the past. Aliens, The Terminators, Robocop, Batman (that series fell victim to shit hollywood rapage because of the name until it was resurrected in--> ), Batman Begins, Total Recall, Lord of the Rings, V for Vendetta, the list goes on and on.

Michael Bay is, simply put, a shitty director and his shortcomings absolutely held this movie back. Stop settling for garbage. It is what it is now, you can't change it, but you don't have to eat shit with a smile on your face. I dumbed myself down and for the most part enjoyed it for what it was, but it could have been so much more. Lets just hope Bay gets bit in the ass holding out and they go in another direction.

People are more upset with the fact that 'GM' popped up on the screen a few times than the fact that 40~ish minutes of screetime were completely wasted on sub-plots and other crap that did nothing to help the movie, lol.

I honestly don't know what to say to that.
