Transformers 2

Indeed..

The first film has the leering shots, but they're tame and infrequent compared to this one. One scene has Mikaela changing clothes..outside..with a brief glimpse of her..well..briefs...for no reason that i can fathom whatsoever..Now i'm 33, and certainly no prude, i accept Megan Fox is a gorgeous girl..but please..there's a time and place for that surely? And then there's a host of 'shits' and 'frickins' thrown in for good measure...12A is lenient in my view..

The film was awesome. Explosion after explosion, huge giant robots beating the crap out of each other, Megan Fox being uber hot throughout, comedy, and did I mention Megan Fox?

Yes, even better than the first.

Really? didn't think the first was bad. He didn't go to the cinema to watch it he watched it on dvd. There was only one scene i found abit close to the knuckle and that was the 'were you masterbating' scene but i always skip that. He found that little vampire film scarier that that. I had to turn it over when they were on the cliff.

Took my 6 year old yesterday super-saint. There were a couple of kiRAB there younger than him too!

Apart from a few mild swear worRAB which he didn't understand anyway (or does he?) and a couple of mild drug/sex references (again, went right over his head) its fine.

No different to the first one if he's seen that.

It depenRAB how you feel about guns, army, etc. There's no Joker style episodes if thats what you're worried about.

Its long though so be prepared to buy goodies to keep him going!

Turturro had the best line in the whole film in that scene. It saved it from being a turkey to being something which was just watchable. First time I think I've ever heard the word scrotum used for comedic effect in a film. :D

Please don't unleash Bay and his team of jokers on a third installment. The Transformers franchise is in the shit after this sequel and the rumour is Bay wants a crack with Unicron before finishing his series of movies.

Before this The Transformers franchise had been well developed from G1 through to the Japanese Anime incarnations. Bay is basically undoing all this good work with his CGI and lack of soul.

The forest battle is the only part of the film that truly feels like Transformers. That part of the film is amazing. It has action AND emotion.

Its very clear that audiences can relate to robots as living beings, but the likes of Spielberg and Bay plaster the film with humans because they think audiences are as narrow minded as them.

Screentime, alas, is not the right of all sentient beings according to Spielberg and Bay.

On the issue of the Autobots; its part of Transformers lore that some of the Autobots have somewhat lax morals, but Prime does not kill in cold blood. Kind of ruins any moral conflict they could build through a character like Grimlock being in TF3.

Likewise NEST was a good idea but I get the impression that was ditched so Bay could big up the US military.

Same as everyone else, took my 7 year old at the weekend, running time was the worst bit as it's loooong but nothing to offend apart from the odd sh** here and there which luckily still goes over his head.

Went to see this yesterday at Manchester IMAX. Some of the reviews on here are just ridiculous!!
It delivered everything you should be expecting from this type of film, if you thought it was utter tripe and couldn't wait for it to end i have to wonder why you bought tickets to see it in the first place as it was never going to be anything different and it does what it says on the tin!!
Some people on here are saying these types of film need to be stopped? Why exactly? You are not forced to go watch these kind of films and its your own fault if you choose to watch it and feel let down, you kind of know whats coming in a Transformer film!!
Stop being so pompous!

My OH (the huge childhood transformer fan) and i (a 27 yr old women who knew nothing of trans until the 1st movie) found it funny, action packed, and everything a transformer fan should need and want! There could easily be a third film and i for one hope there is and again will be very excited to see it and enjoy it for what it is, cartoon robot escapism!

As much as I enjoyed it, some things were awful:

1) The screaming and mugging substituted for dialogue and plot development
2) The "ghetto" characters of Mudflap and Jolt (sp?) - the hip-hop jokes, slang and the gold tooth were awful
3) We never got to really know the other character's lives

Something tells me G.I. Joe will be better...
