Transferring save games from profile to LIVE profile??

I just got Xbox Live and I have some save games in my normal profile for GTAIV. The save game goes through the point where it freezes during the little jacob mission.

Do I have to start the game all over again, using my Live profile? I noticed it still freezes at little jacob. Does the update only work if u play with the Live profile or is there something I have to hunt down and download for it to not freeze anymore
 
you have to start over. it won't let you transfer games from name to name. sucks, I was like 30% through, got live, had to create a new name since i didn't like the name that the guy that had the 360 before me had, so had to start the game over.
 
huh?

I never had live. Played until this weekend. Then signed up for live. When I signed in last night to play GTA, I was able to open my save game just fine under the live profile?
 
well if your live profile is the same name as your regular profile, that might be why it works?

Mine isn't the same, so I guess that's why I got owned. That blowz..
 
forza 2 is also a bitch because you can't move the saves onto a memory card. Lost all my cars (I had all of them, lol) and my progress through the game when I upgraded to the 120gb HD. I was able to send my favorites cars to another profile and gift them back to myself though.

I know there's that transfer cable, but by the time I realized there was one, I already had saves on the new HD and didn't want to overwrite them.
