I'd like to transfer my Bell XVu acct to a roommate. No dish un-install, re-install. Same billing address. Do I call in and de-activate my receiver, and then get the roommate to call back as a new customer? What's the cheapest way of doing this?

Thanks!

Bell does not uninstall dishes. Things to consider...
1. New EV subs are locked into a 1 or 2 year contract. (Usually 2 years but it may be 1 year if no installation is involved.)
2. There is a fee to activate used receivers on a new account.

You might be able to add his name to the account and remove yours a few months from now. I've done this with telephone.

Rented receivers can not be tranferred. If you are renting it is therefore not an option. In that case what you can do is change the BILL TO name to his name. Your name will still show as the account holder. Policy might have changed on that aspect...

If you purchased your equipement it could be transferred no problem. Your roomate will be charged a transfer charge of 35$ to open the account since he opens it with existing receivers and not new receivers.

You also have to look at other issues, like contract... Express Vu tranfers the RECEIVER, not the CONTRACT! If you had an unfinished 2 years contract and you sell your receivers and close your account it is considered as breaking a contract.

Hi all, we are moving from AB, to BC, currently own a 9200 and 5100 in the house, been on BEV for about 5 years now. I want to upgrade the 5100 to the new 9200 (can't remember the actual model but the HD PVR). If I sign up my wife as a new user in B.C., would we be eligable to get the rebates for new accounts? I'm think the new house will need dish hookup anyways, this maybe the best way. And what about bringing my old 9200 over onto the new account, any issues with that? Will BEV put 2+2 together and stop this?

What's the most cost effective way of doing this. Don't like renting, only owning.

I would suggest you close the current account (rember there is a 30 days policy) and evaluate which between the retention offer and the new client's promo is best...

For a move Bell install the first tuner free of charge and there is a 50$ charge for the second tuner

Bell has promos right now where non HD clients could get the install free of charge

If you cancel and cite the cost of moving and upgrading the 5100, EV will likely give you a 9242 with 1 year free rental and free installation. After a year, you can likely buy out the 9242 for $299. Sell the 5100 to recover part of the cost.
