transfering files

I am a new palm user. I have been trying to figure out how to transfer a document from my laptop which runs on Mac OSX to my tungsten T3's SD card. also do i need to convert it to make it smaller? I tried transfering a document but i wasn't seeing it when i open docs to go likewise, it seems the file is too big that the other application on my palm isnt opening saying low on memory.
