Hi, i really wanna play football bad this year at my local highschool, ill be a junior and they don't have a junior varsity team, only freshman,sophomore, and varsity. Right now im 5'8- 5'9 and weight 140. Im doing only upperbody and abdominals right now, i have a goal weight of 165. I am hoping to play reciever/defensive back. Should i start adding legs and running in now? or wait til i have gained my goal weight? Im hoping to hit my goal weight by the end of february. My workout schedule consists of Upperbody the 1st day, abdominals the next, upperbody the 3rd day, and so on. Would it be a idea to add lets say running and abdominals into the same day? And upperbody and legs into the same day? and switch everyday?. I know speed is a big factor in football especially for the positions i want to play. Should i wait til i after i hit my goal weight to start legs and running or no?
