Traditional

Why are people so freaking traditional when it comes to things?! I just got my nose pierced and its a really cute stud. But once I showed my grandparents they were all like, "that is really ugly" and "you really do look cheat now" ITs crazy cause I am still the same person and its not even that permant. I don't understand people sometime!

You just have to remember, they come from a really different time. We all say, we won't be like that when we get old, but we'll still find new trends odd.

it's really true. there's also the fact that people generally close their minds the older they get. i don't know why, and i really hope i don't wind up like that, but you never know.. you get comfortable and secure in the tiny reality you construct for yourself. it's depressing.

don't let it get to you, though. they'll get over it.

It does hapen. How often I see some suburban wigger walking down the street and think "Pull up your pants, straighten your hat, and Why do you have your hood up? It's summer."

You guys should have seen me in the 80s and early to mid 90s. I was in several heavy metal and hard rock bands back then. I wore a leather biker jacket, spike wrist and fore arm bands, hand cuff belt, spandex and leather pants. The whole "hair band" thing. We played originals and stuff like Iron maiden, Judas Priest. I get a kick out of pics from back then. I wore that shit everywhere. I know for a fact older people thought we looked like derelicts, and some were even scared of us. See us comming and cross to the other side of the street.

Now I still play gigs, and do studio work, but we all just wear regular clothes.

what about tatoos? my family has always shunned me on them and no one has one, but I have friends that do..especially some who turned 21 and for their birthday they went and got one...they're looking into kidnapping me on my 21 bday and making me get one, that'll be fun

even though I hate ppl who write on themselves, I think it's a sick habit and I'm keeping myself fromskin poisoning, but I always thought 1 hidden tatoo wouldn't hurt (like on the shoulder or something), cause I know getting a blue collar job is hard for those who have tatoos up their arms and stuff

for some reason it usually berates your character to have visible body art.

i don't know why, either; probably because of the types of folks who brought it into the mainstream: bikers, thugs, drugged-out death rockers...

but maybe that's just my own personal bias... i dunno.

What about indians, eskimos, hawaiians, pagans, jungle folk, africans, indonesians, ect.

There is a whole wide world out there.

I think what he's getting at is the Grandparents perception, and the people that stereotypicaly had tatoos before it was mainstream in modern American culture. At least that's what I got form what he said.

True though, too many of us forget where tatoos originated.

Some of us use them to remember our past, I got my family's Crest on my shoulder. A friend of mine got a job at Cliff's tatoo. He offered a free tatoo and I decided to get one, but wanted one that I wouldn't regret when I was like 60.

Old people are much more ignorant about the new society, which isn't surpising, just tell them " things are not what they used to be in your days, this is actually style, now get the fuck over it!".
