trading 8100 for 8120

my and my girlfriend have just bought a house and we get very bad reception there. she has the normal pearl. can she trade in her 8100 for an 8120 for a small fee or would she have to buy the phone outright? i mean its either they hook her up with a deal, or we cancel our service because there is no point in having a cell phone you cant use.
 
Talk to the carrier and (nicely) explain the situation. You're probably outside the 30-day (or whatever they offer) return policy. They should be willing to accommodate you if you're a good customer and can make a good case for the trade. It sounds reasonable to me - maybe it will to them too. Good luck.
 
what is great about the 8120 is that you can use the UMA instead of EDGE

your situation is about the same as mine, but every since i got the 8120, i have reception all over the house ... with the UMA ...
 
i know i have the curve, hence the reason why she needs the 8120. we get no reception and the only way to stay with tmobile for her is to trade the phone.

anyone else done this before?
