In the last 3 weeks I've basically gone all 3 ways.
1. I put the bike on Craigslist for 13K just to see what would happen.- no calls.
2. The next week I brought in to the dealer and put it on consignment. They wanted 12% but it was way better than trade in (about 2K difference) - no interest from the tire kickers at the dealer. Pulled after 1 week.
3. Screw it, worked out a deal on a new 2011 with a trade, got more $$$ by negotiating with them, still paid 500 less than MSRP on a new bike - but new bike has not arrived yet so I still have my 06 while I wait.
4. I Forgot about the ad on craigslist while I was waiting for my 2011. I got a call and sold the bike outrite for 12.5K, just $500 less than original price. Next day I called the dealer and now I can renegotiate a lower price when buying without a trade. What is the moral of this story? I dunno but it worked out good for me!
