Toyota Truck starts in neutral, but not in park?

it's a 2000 6 cylinder Tundra, starts sometimes in park, but always starts if I put it into neutral? What could this be? don't want to be ripped off my car repair place.
 
park safety switch sounds like your culprit. its supposed to not allow your car to turn on in any other gear than park and neutral
 
Check the Neutral Safety Switch on the side of your transmission and see if its adjusted right. If its off just a little bit, it will tell the truck something different, then what gear its really in.
