Hi. Recently my the fuel filter on my 1997 toyota tercel has become plugged up and gross. I decided I was going to replace the fuel filter. When I took the filter off I noticed it was very hard to unthread. While doing this I stripped the soft metal on the bolt. When I went to put the new fuel filter on I tryed to insert the fuel line fitting back into the new filter but it would only go in so far. The threads are not damaged. I had Canadian tire measure the fitting size and they told me it was a 7/16" which they dont even sell (or any of the other stores I checked). My theory is that sense most of my tercel is mostly metric, the fittings for the fuel system are metric too and when the fuel lines were last replaced, they had standard fittings put on and forced it into the filter. Does anyone know for sure if this is the problem. Thanks.
