My dad drives a 2004 Toyota Sienna. Every so often the air in the REAR VENTS turn on by themselves and they stay on for 5-10 sec before shutting off. It's very sporadic, and can happen just once or as many as 10 times in a row (spaced 30sec to few minutes) in one car ride.

It happened just yesterday, and before that was 1 month ago. Anyone know what could be causing this? Thanks

You may find the car has pressure seals in the area behind the rear seat. They stop air entering the car but allow air to vent, such as the pressurisation that takes place when you slam a car door. They are usually just a rubber flap, that only moves one way. perhaps they are a little sticky, and open dramatically as the car pressurises.

Possibly defective relay that controls this, - or damaged insulation allowing wires to hit together momentarily! Shake wires around where-ever you can reach Them in area around control relay, - if it does it, -- look carefully for bare wires! Tap on relay with screwdriver handle, -- if it does it there - replace relay!
