Toyota Rush 2006 does not have temperature gauge?

I bought a Toyota Rush yr. 2006 back in 2007 and running perfectly, but as usual my car does not have a temperature gauge. But here in Bangladesh, the outside temperature is around 45C and I sometimes I becomes necessary to check the heat level.

Can someone suggest me why there's no temperature gauge and the mechanism used.
