i just bough a toyota mr2 the other day, i drove it around for about 2 hours till the battery drained the car died. then i jump started it and i instantly took the cables off. the alt would keep it running but was really sputtery and eventually died after 3 mins and there is a clicking noise under the hood. i pulled a fuse that said AM2 the car was off and it made that noise. but when its still on the jumpers the car runs perfect and there is no clicking noise. what can this possible be. we narrowed it down to two possible things, might be wrong on them. the battery will NOT re-charge and its a new battery. please get back to me soon :) thanks
also what is a diode and where is it located in this car. i know the regulator is located in the alt but not to sure about the diode and could that be a prob too?
the guy i bought this from said he just replaced the battery and alt and i just went out to check to see if battery cables were tight and found that the positive was loose and could easily pull it off so i tightend it and alt still not charging the battery is it possible that that may have ruined the alternator

have your alternator checked and battery for that matter....a bad battery can make a alternator go bad and a bad alternator can make a battery go bad.....they work together.....any auto store will check them for free....the clicking may be something electrical not getting 12 volts of power ...maybe a relay or maybe the alternator it self.....good luck...
