Toyota Matrix vs Honda Civic LX. Opinions? Also what is a fair OTD price on the Matrix?

Matrix seems fun but Civic seems practical. I've done too much research on both and am now completely unsure of what I want. Any opinions from someone who has driven one or both? Also, we got an OTD price on a new 09 civic of $17150. What's fair for a 2010 matrix?
 
I had a 2003 Matrix for a couple years and absolutely loved it. I drove it from Louisiana to Washington State when I moved and it went on several other road trips. Great car.
 
theres better things about both, the civic is more expensive looking and refined. but the matrix is probably cheaper.
i would say Civic, but get the EX, the LX doesn't come with a lot standard. the ex is more expensive and is loaded, get a used 08/09 if you don't have enough money, i find it worth it.
