wow thats weird but then again it does have 147k miles on it and it has been sitting for 3 months... check to see if you put the oil in the right place or something maybe you didnt put enough in??? try just getting a real quic check up from jiffy lube or something i dont know what else to tell you but ur pretty stupid to buy an 03 echo with that many miles on it in the first place... i think u should get rid of it and get a car that you can test drive before you buy it

Just got this 2003 Echo with 142k today, which had been sitting for 3 months. I changed the oil, coolant and plugs today. Tonight it was 104 degrees outside and I was idling a lot and the coolant temperature got to 216 degress (using scanguage) which is higher than my other cars ever get. The engine overheating light did not come on but the a/c got less cool. Is this anything I can address, or is it inevitable with this car in this weather?
