Toyota Corolla: Repair and Main. Quesion, Please Help?

When thinking about cost for repairs on my 2003-Corolla, I was always told by my dealer that I should have a Toyota repair man work on my car. That makes sense to me, however, to keep the cost down can any other mechanic do easy stuff like, oil changes, tire rotations, filter changes, muffler changes, transmission flushes and etc. Leave the more problematic repairs to the Toyota mechanic. I keep hearing advertisement for CarX ad saying they can fix cars for less using good quality parts. What do you think?
