I have a 1994 Toyota Corolla with 211,000 miles on it. It has a 1.6L 4 cylinder engine.
I have been using Valvoline Max Life (high mileage) synthetic blend 5W-30 oil. The car has been burning about 2 quarts of oil in the 3,500 mile oil change.
Do you think it would be safe to switch to Valvoline Max Life 10W-40 oil (even though the manual says to use 5W-30 and 10W-30 oils)?
I am going on a 600 mile trip (one way) next summer and would not like to take a bunch of oil with me.
