Sometimes the answer is as simple as a vapor lock. Open your gas cap and then replace it. Do this every time you gas up and see if it helps. Also an oil change can cause this to show up.

purchaser of this car.? Hi all,

I am having Toyota Corolla 2002 car, which show me constant check engine icon on my dashboard. Generally all this icons should be gone once the self test is done at the time of igination is on.

Please let me know if this problem is something serious.

My car condition is very good, and it runs almost 200,000 kms, recently i changed the front brake pads, new plugs etc..

Thank you
Jamal

Your check engine light is one. In basic terms, some sensor in your car is saying its fucked up. Most of the time this doesn't even matter, just a way to get you to go to a shop and spend money. On newer cars start with the easiest; make sure your gas cap is on tight b/c they have a sensor for that nowadays.
Still got the problem? TAKE IT TO AUTOZONE, THEY DO ENGINE LIGHT CHECKS FOR FREE. THEY WILL CLEAR THE CODE AND THEN TELL U WHAT THE CODE WAS SO A) THE LIL ANNOYING CODE WILL GO AWAY AND NEVER COME BACK OR B) YOU KNOW WHAT TO TELL A MECHANIC TO FIX IT

Need to take it to a garage that can hook up a computer to read the codes, that is the reason why the check engine light is on. Once they know what the codes are, then you'll know what to do next. Good luck.
