Toyota Celica GT automatic transmission 2002 mods?

I have a Toyota Celica GT automatic transmission 2002, and i would like to increase the torque and/or horsepower. I hear putting a turbo in a celica that isn't a GTS and isn't stick isn't a good idea. i have about $2000 to put in to the car. also I autocross the the car (just got into it this year have gone only like 4 times or so)
 
A better exhaust system never hurts. It will defiantly give you better torque, and you will have cash to spare to invest in other mods like maybe a CAI.
