A few weeks ago I came back after 5 months out of the country and my car was sitting in the garage the whole time (I know, I know...). Now there is a noise whenever I brake. I've had this happen before after being out of the country but the noise went away after a few days of normal braking.
This time it hasn't gone away, so I took the car to the dealer who told me the brake drums have rusted and need to be replaced. Does this sound right, or will the noise eventually go away once the rust wears off through normal braking?
