'Toyetic' cartoon shows which never got toys

Basically the flip side of the 'Toy Products that Never Got Shows' thread, does anyone here know of any cartoon shows that seemed primed to be spun off into toy franchises, but strangely never did?

Offhand, 2 come to mind:

Beverly Hills Teens (1987): It was a show about a plethora of pretty rich teenagers with several changes of outfits and accessories, many of them had their own vehicles, and there were numerous sets to branch out into playsets. Yet for whatever reason, a BHT toy line never manifested.

Dinosaucers (also 1987): The show featured 2 warring faction of sci-fi dinosaurs, The Dinosaucers and the Tyrannos, 4 human Secret Scouts, numerous vehicles and the Dinosacuers each possessed the power to 'dinovlve' into their bigger, primitive ancestors. You'd have thought that this show would've spawned a series of action figures for sure, but no.

And don't forget to explain your choices. Don't just rattle of lists with no explanations, please.
 
It's something of a surprise that we never got a line of action figures based on TMS' Mighty Orbots series. Undoubtedly, the fact that Orbots only lasted a single season had something to do with the fact, but still, there were 5 robot characters who could combine into 1 giant super robot which had all of their combined abilities. There was definitley some untapped merchandising potential there.
 
Mighty Orbots might have made some merchandise had the show not been completely blown out of the water by Transformers, which hit the US around the same time.



Word. As a kid I would've given my right hand for Wacky Races toys. (It wouldn't have been a big loss, since I'm left-handed anyway. :D)
 
While Gargoyles did get a toy releases, it was pretty disappointing how a good portion of characters were neglected:

- Angela
- Tony Dracon
- Archmage (Both regular and enhanced)
- The Pack (Both regular human versions and upgraded versions)
- And of course Coyote which unlike the multiple versions of Goliath would have a story reason to explain it's multiple version.
 
I so wanted Freakazoid toys. I mean, I know Freakazoid poked at the whole toyetic thing, but I would've loved some BTAS style figures of Freakazoid, Cosgrove, The Lobe, Gutierrez, etc.

Someone please tell me who didn't want a Freakmobile with a kickable chubby Fanboy?
 
One of the producers of Mighty Orbots said in an interview that they tried to get a toy company interested in producing a line of Orbots toys. The toy company backed out because they wanted toys based on the show's heroes and villians, and Mighty Orbots' main villain wasn't exactly "toyetic". As the producer said in the interview, "Did you try to make a toy out of a cloud?"
 
Scooby Doo, and I'm talking pre-movie/CN overkill. I don't recall ever seeing a real toyline back in the 80's. Between Mystery Inc and and all the ghosts over the various series (Where Are You - 13 Ghosts/The made for t.v. movies), that toy line could have been a HUGE hit.

Where to start...:sweat:

-Hypernauts, The Legend of Calamity Jane and Brats of the Lost Nebula were each yanked off the air after less than 5 episodes (although all 13 episodes of BotLN aired outside of the US). Why would anybody make toys out of shows which were deemed ratings failures?

A toy line of Loonatics Unleashed was planned, but the series coming to a sudden end extinguished any thoughts of making merchandise.

Histeria! actually had some toys; there was a Subway Histeria! kids' meal.
 
Judging by the Freak's face, I'm guess that figure was customized from The Creeper.

I saw a picture in Wizard magazine of a Freakazoid action figure that was customized from a Joker action figure. I'd post a pic of it, but it was years ago and I can't find it now. To the guy's credit, it was really good job.
 
Well, there a Food Fighters line back in the late 80's. There's nothing like a militant stack of pancakes with an assault rifle to brighten a child's day...
 
i think static shock could have had a really cool line of action figures. the show was around long enough with plenty of characters that could have made cool looking figures if done right.

captain n the game master was another that kinda surprised me.

i think duck tales reallly got screwed in the toy line deparment as well...they had a line of disney afternnon figures with talespin and darkwing duck....how cool would it have been to get some beagle boys, uncle scrooge, magica daspell and a fenton complete with gizmo duck suit.
 
Actually, around 1990, Hardee's had their Kid's Meals include 1 of 8 different Wacky Races racers. I remember eating there as a kid over 20 times in a few months time before I was finally able to get my hands on the elusive Dick Dastardly & Muttley racer...
 
I always hoped that they'd release Swat Kats action figures when I was a kid. It would've been so cool to play with Dr. Viper and DarkKat, but sadly it never came to pass.
