Toy Story 3 definately happening ..

I know Hanks said in the interview that they actually managed to get the whole cast together in a room at the same time to record the dialogue, which for an animated film is very, very rare.

Ooh thanks for that. :)
Went to see Friday the 13th last night and a lot of my mates work at the cinema. One of them was giving out the glasses for Bolt 3D and she gave me a pair of them. I have to say I was impressed by how normal they looked!

I look forward to the future Pixar presentations in this 3D form (although I hear you have to pay a higher ticket price).. I don't imagine I'll be quick to see any Dreamworks or Walt Disney Feature Animation films in 3D...

Unfortunately there will be some absentees, but not in the main cast (Buzz and Woody).
Jim Varney and Joe Ranft have sadly passed since Toy Story 2, so Slinky the Dog will be recast and if Wheezy reappears he might have to be recast.

I'm sure any replacements will be suitable and handled respectively. Apparently Jim Varney will be replaced by a friend of his. http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1599550/story.jhtml

The above link also mentions Cars 2 which will miss Paul Newman as Doc HuRABon.

They should have just abandoned Cars 2 when Paul Newman died. Though they'd probably already done loaRAB of work on the film. The only reason they're doing it is for merchandise sales anyway (this was also a major reason for doing Toy Story 2 - I'm sure you'll all remember how crazy people went for the Buzz Lightyear toys... but that turned out to be a fantastic film so it all worked out fine).

You would think they'd want to do an Incredibles, Nemo or even Mosters Inc sequel rather than a blummin Cars sequel (probably their worst film) but Cars was the one they made most money from with merchandising and the like. Maybe they also feel they want another crack at it after the original was a little lacklustre (I don't think they ever got the cars' "faces" to look right)

lol..umm...not sure your math is correct there. You're about 2 years older then Fio's son, so you'd have been 7 (ish) ;) More worrying for me, I was 17!

really looking forward to the 3rd one, hope it lives up to expectations.

I have to dig out the cinema tickets (I kept them as it was his first ever cinema trip) and check the year. IMDB say the film came out in '95 which would have made my son 4 but I thought we saw it in '96 when he was 5!

It could be that it was released in the US late '95 so we didn't get it until the following year, but I'm not sure at the moment :D

Well there most likely isn't much done as of yet since it's a long way away it's unlikely animation has started. I understand Toy Story 3 has only just started recently, so Cars 2 not for a while. There will be a story ready.
Cars 2 is for summer 2011 in case anyones interested.

Disney wanted to start a Toy Story direct-to-video line, but Toy Story was just too good to waste :D
I hope this can be replicated again with Cars.

I would be concerned about sequels to any of those films though. The bar is so high (in my opinion), the ending to Monsters, Inc. is perfect and the others are too brilliant. And these three would only happen with the original directers involved, and Stanton (Nemo) and Bird (Incredibles) are both busy on other projects.
Also Cars probably has a special place in Lasseters heart, and he is willing to hand over the reins of Toy Story and Cars to someone else now that he doesn't direct anymore.

You'd be right. I think Toy Story was released in the US during Winter 95 and then the UK early 96. Thats where this kind of confusion comes from.
