Im 19 years old and never had any health issues until i moved into an apartment that had some black mold in the bathroom. After about 2 months of living there my symptoms hit me out of no where.

SYMPTOMS(JULY-SEP)
-Pain in Testicles
-Extreme muscle weakness
-Fatigue
-lost of interest/depression
-rapid heartbeat
-Stopped sweating like normal (use to sweat a lot)
-Weird dreams
-Random anxiety when not even nervous
-muscle twitches
-sinus infection
-Extreme back and neck pain
-Right shoulder join sticking out which gave me a winged scapula.
-etc, etc....

After a bunch of doctor and hospital visits they still couldn't figure out was was wrong. They did a bunch of tests and found nothing. Some doctors thought it might be a pinched nerve but they said it wouldn't be causing these symptoms. Beginning of Oct i found out it was black mold that was in the walls of my bathroom and a lot on the shower curtain ( Didn't think it was toxic). I cleaned it up and felt a ton better but was still getting symptoms so moved back home. I feel a lot better but im still getting some brain fogginess and some muscle twitches.

My question is will my nervous system ever return to normal?

Also my vascular system seems damaged because im noticing darker blue veins in my arms, I think a varicose vein on my ankle and my penis has a vein on it that looks detoriated. Also there is a vein on my testicles that was very prominent when i was around the black mold but seems to be getting better.

Will my veins on my body ever return too normal shape and heal or our my veins permentally screwed.

Im taking a bunch of vitamins and im also taking modiflian and olive leaf extract, working out , and eating healthy. I see major improvements in 3 weeks so i hope this isn't forever.

Niedma33: That's awful what you had to go through. I hope you told the landlord and should probably even tell the board of health about it so the landlord has to fix the problem so someone else doesn't get sick.

The only thing I can offer you as far as the muscle twitches are concerned is to take some magnesium.

If you see black mold anywhere again in the future on your shower curtains, walls, etc., use some hydrogen peroxide on it to get rid of it. Put it on a sponge and wipe the walls down and use a tootrabroadrush dipped in it to get rid of it on the ceilings and around ceiling fans and fixtures.

See if you can get a toxic/non-toxic element test done. It's a test where they send your hair off to a lab to be analyzed to see what the levels are of various elements in you. It's not covered by insurance but doesn't cost much. You might have to see a natural doctor to be able to get it done.

You could probably use a good detox of your system. Research some detoxification methoRAB.

Another thing to try is to get your endocrine system evaluated. Your lymphnodes, thyroid, hormones, etc. You never know what damage has been done to them.

Good luck in getting better. I wish you the best.

The black mold that is toxic is called stachybotris and it is rare. It tenRAB to occur when insulation gets wet inside the walls. It takes time to grow. My understanding is that it doesn't grow well in areas where there is light, like the bathroom.

But you might have an allergy to molRAB. Have you seen an allergist?

Thanks for the reply... The landlord is actually my dad that owns the apartments. The mold is my fault which was on the shower curtain and some minor in the wall. He told me it could be mold and I kept thinking it was a pinched nerve in my back giving me the problems but I was wrong. I didn't think mold was that toxic:mad:

Anyone effected by mold ever had vein issues like darker blue ones or varicose veins from it?

My parents keep saying my veins are fine and that im worrying for no reason but I can notice a big difference in them now then before i was exposed. I use to workout like crazy and use to have very healthy veins but not anymore:(

Im getting a little anxiety that it might lead to vascular damage and very fragile veins.

Will my veins ever heal back to normal?

Im taking a lot of vitamin K and all the other vitamins. As for my nervous system I don't sweat like I normally do and one eye is more dilated then the other. That could explain why I started getting some blurry vision even with my contacts on? I also had a thyroid test and they said it was normal but im not satisfied. Too many questions and no answers...Doctors are clueless when it comes to mold...and I've been to an allergy doctor too.

Niedma33: The next thing I'd say is contact the CDC and see if they can help. That's too bad it's your dad that owns the place. He should still take care of the place so no one else moves in there. He could get sued down the road if someone gets sick. It's not worth it. Tell him not to be a slumlord. Own up to it.

Go see an endocrinologist and have ALL of your endocrine system checked. ALL OF IT!

Take care.

Thanks for the replies... My dad is a pretty good landlord and took care of them problem and were actually doing a mold test up there. The shower curtain was there when I moved in and never changed it which was so stupid of me. (biggest regret). The shower curtain had black mold and pretty sure there was spores on it. I type in black mold on google and it looked pretty much identical.

One reason I know my health issues were from mold was because whenever I would take a shower it felt like i was getting dizzy and couldn't breath well. Thought there was something else causing this problem while thinking mold was not toxic. I've been studying all of the symptoms of black mold stachybotrys and I have all the same symptoms. Right when I threw the shower curtain away my symptoms started going away. We also put a petri dish up there and it's started to grow mold...were going to send it in.

I've been to an allergist and they did some mold tests on me and said all of the tests were negative but didn't test me for stachybotrys. My older brother was actually living with me in the apartment and said he was getting only very minor symptoms like itchy eyes and sometimes forgetting simple things. I've read up on black mold and it said it can deteriorate your vascular system. My veins are looking a lot different too and im kind of getting minor stinging pain right above my forearm. Im thinking it could be my nerves that were damaged from the toxins. Back in Aug when the doctors thought i had a pinched nerve, they prescribed with some anti-inflammatory steroiRAB which actually help with some pain.

If toxins have damaged my body and veins will proper vitamins, medicine mixed with healthy lifestyle and time heal my nervous system and entire body?

Also I will look into an endocrinologist so thank you for the advice.

Not all of it is. There are thousanRAB of strains; most harmless to otherwise healthy people. The term "toxic mold" refers to molRAB that produce mycotoxins, not to all molRAB in general. If this is typical surface mold that grows in the warmth and moisture of an unsanitary bathroom, it isn't "toxic", and it certainly wouldn't be causing "vein" issues. Mold causes mainly respiratory symptoms of the flulike, sinus, or asthmatic sort.

Only laboratory testing can identify toxic mold from the more ordinary kinRAB. Unless the building has major water leaks that has caused large amounts of mold to grow within the wall cavities, it's very doubtful that the mold you have is causing any kind of health issue. Keep the bathroom clean and disinfected to see if your issues resolve.

Niedma33: Could you please clarify where exactly the mold was found. I understand the shower curtain, but was the other stuff on the walls or inside of the walls. Did the walls need to be torn down? Thanks.
