Towing limits for Ford Explorer Sport?

you don't want to go very big with the short base Explorer..you'll need to upgrade the hitch to a chassis mount and install a trans cooler and consider a hand brake for safe pulling..

I want to get a small-medium sized travel trailer that I can tow behind my Ford Explorer. It is 2WD, 2door...I've looked at the specs online but frankly they are too confusing to figure out with my ADD and all...would be better if someone just explained it to me. Also, would switching out the tow hitch area for a stronger and more durable setup increase the weight limit significantly or is not worth it?
