*toughy* Chevy Camaro passKey module.?

alright so I have a 91 chevrolet camaro v6 3.1 L and I know I need a new passkey module. the one in my car is defective and won't read my key we've tried adding resistors to change the resistance etc but still nothing , we then tried to add a new module from a 99 Camaro and it blew my fuses. I can't find a scrap yard that has a 89-92 Camaro and at GM it's 500 dollers for the keys the barrel and the module. am I screwed?
 
Is the key putting out a signal? If not it could be the key and not the module. Have the key tested and make sure it is putting out a signal.
