Tote bag vs backpack?

I'm going to be a freshman next year. My school is catholic and has uniforms, but I don't think that would affect our type of bags. Anyway, this year I bought an expensive Jansport backpack, but I don't really like it that much anymore, plus it's a purplish-pink. I despise pink.

1. Should I have a tote or a backpack?
2. What do you prefer and what do you think is cooler?
i can't return it, i've taken off the tag and it's been like 5 months since i bought it
 
1. I personally think a tote bag is better. Backpacks can be annoying with all the zippers and alot of them remind me of elementary school. Tote bags are more stylish and you can just throw things in them, it is easier. If you carry a heavy load then you might want a backpack though, a heavy tote bag can hurt your shoulders really badly.
2. I prefer a tote, it is cooler and I never carry things that are that heavy so a tote works just fine.
 
well, since you already bought the backpack, you should obviously stick with that.
in my opinion, i like tote bags better...most of the girls at my school use them aside from like 4 people. just use your backpack this year, and next year buy a cute tote bag.

they do, however, have cheap ones at victoria's secret. i got mine for like $10 and it's really cute.
