Total Film's Number One Best Films of the Nineties

Total Film's Number One Best Films of the Nineties are:

1990 - goodfellas
1991 - the silence of the lambs
1992 - reservoir dogs
1993 - groundhog day
1994 - pulp fiction
1995 - se7en
1996 - trainspotting
1997 - la confidential
1998 - out of sight
1999 - fight club

however can you arrange them into an all time top ten of the decade?

Groundhog Day best film of 1993? What, better than Jurassic Park? I appreciate that as they're totally different films, public opinion will differ as to what the best one is, but I'm surprised a film magazine would say Groundhog Day is the better film.

Hmm no Shawshank??

This is IMDB voters Top ten of the decade:

1. The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
2. Schindler's List (1993)
3. Pulp Fiction (1994)
4. The Usual Suspects (1995)
5. Goodfellas (1990)
6. The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
7. American Beauty (1999)
8. Fight Club (1999)
9. The Matrix (1999)
10. Se7en (1995)

Overall better IMO, though I'd swap Matrix for Trainspotting and American Beauty for LA Con. and I'd shuffle them around a bit, eg. Se7en would be higher, Schindlers would be lower...

Was this best American movies?

I'd probably go for...

Magnolia
Pulp Fiction
Eyes Wide Shut
The Shawshank Redemption
Silence of the Lambs
The Matrix
The Usual Suspects
Trainspotting
American Beauty
Goodfellas

Having not seen Fight Club, I'd put my top 10 out of those films as:

1. Goodfellas
2. Out of Sight
3. Trainspotting
4. LA Confidential
5. Pulp Fiction
6. Groundhog Day
7. Silence of the Lambs
8. Reservoir Dogs
9. Se7en
10. Fight Club

Though that list could change depending on my mood, and Groundhog Day would be at number 1.

yep Shawshank's in the 1994 list (if you notice it's number one film per year of the 90s rather than top ten list of films of the 90s as the imdb one has a few from 1999!!)

however if you want to look at the full top ten lists of the year the books out at WH smiths now

Trainspotting's not an American movie, obviously.

I was asking about the list being an all-American affair because of the absence of foreign movies.

Yeah i know... just thought be a good comparison. and you did say about an all time top 10 of the decade...

I think Numpty was asking about the IMDB list(?) - and no, its not American. Its just the top 10 as voted by imdb-ers and they happen to all be American. I think Leon was the first foreign film at no. 11 (?) and Life is Beautiful is in top 20 also. Trainspotting further down list.

in your opinion. you are supposed to create the all time list from these ten film that total film has given as their number one per year. they dont list then top ten of the 90s
