Hi all,

So I've finally got the ability to get out of the mobile phone hell I'm in now, and I'm signing a contract with rogers soon. Problem is, I can't pick between the w810i or the RAZR v3t.

I need a phone that has a relatively good camera, a good mp3 player, as my iPod is pretty outdated, and above all, it HAS to look good haha. That's what's selling the RAZR to me, it looks so good. But in terms of functionality, the w810i is better, as it has a better camera and a fm radio and stuff. The w810i also comes with the 4gb memory stick pro duo and the headphones, with the RAZR I need to buy that over ebay and wait for it to come in from the USA. I'm still a little inclined towards the RAZR.

One more thing, I have a iBook g4, so the phone also has to work with OS X 10.4.x. And on a sidenote, if I do get the w810i, does white look good? Because it would match my mac and stuff, but that really isn't as important haha.

Sorry for rambling and thanks!

hey man, interesting you should ask. i bought my w810 while my freind bought the razer v3. the mp3 player on the motorla doesnt compare to the w810...not that im being biased cuz i have it, we actually compared the phones. the camera on the w810 is worlds better, his pictures compared to mine looked rediculous. as far as looks go, i actually grew to love the way the w810 looks. i think its a beautiful phone. another point, his phone kept defecting. he had to send it in twice, once because the phone deleted all the sim card info, another because it just stopped playing music, and finally his screen cracked by just being in his pocket. its almost comical how much he hates his phone now, and from a first hand perspective, i would definately go for the w810

Functionality-wise, the w810i hands down beats the v3 RAZR, no denying it. Both work perfectly fine with iSync for contacts, calendar events, etc. W810i works great as a USB mass storage too (can access both the phone and the memory - note however that when you "eject" one of them, both will eject but one will remain in the Finder regardless, causing you t oget a warning when you unplug the USB cable. Totally harmless though).

Funny that, I had the same issue long ago, ended up with both phones LOL, and I'm stil not satisfied cuz I like the RAZR and RIZR look better.

Like I said though, for functionality you won't be disappointed with the W810i. Only gripes I have with it are the small screen and keys, and candybar design vs flip or slider. If you want music etc, go for the w810i. If you want looks then go for the RAZR .

PS: I'm back in Canada after 10 months in Europe and all the phones here are soooo outdated and old hahahahah. We're bombarded with the RAZR2 and the motorola rizr and the O2 cocoon and other stylish phones or phones with more functinoality, I find it funny when someone says the RAZR looks good

I forgot to add, you also get more battery life out of the W810i. Plus you say you get headphones and a 4GB memory card (worth 100$ or more)!?!?!?

I think it's a no-brainer at this point, unless you really really really really really want the RAZR for its looks and don't care about functionality too much.

Patrix.

if you're justing wanting a good phone, the v3t is a better bet. it has better reception, better build quality, much nicer looking (IMO), and better call quality and volume.
for music, battery life, and camera, get the w810i.

I say go for the W810i. More features, but smaller screen and buttons...Battery life is great though - I like AT&T V3xx(same phone right?) mostly because of the sceen. The UI isn't as bad as it was before...

Yea, the white w810i's look good...If you do buy one, try to get one unbranded. It will save time and hassle, and you can set your MP3s as ringtones.

edit- The w810i is getting outdated though, its sucessor is the W610i FYI

Thanks for all the input guys

I am now pretty much swayed both ways, although this thread is pushing me towards the w810i:

That's a jk rt, good phone???? better build quality???????? better call quality and volume??????????? have not seen that on any moto in ages, V3T is no exemption, better reception...neither, in particular places u get it, in others I got better signal with a lttl W300, W810 still beats many new phones from the same SE, I don't have it but I've used it before in plenty of occasions not only for calling, it's fun to play and use.

About better build quality, I saw one in front of me while the screen got cracked, guy dropped it by mistake, phone bounce on his shoe and hit the carpet, "carpet", picked it up opened, Surprise!!!!, that happen after I dropped my work phone "W580" which still works very nicely (hate that is kinda slippery), sure "better build quality" on Crapo, problem is I don't c it.

nope, i'm deadly serious. v3t has better call quality, better reception, and better build quality.
the w810i isn't exactly known for its reliability or build quality....to say the least. therefore, i can't recommend it.

I've got a w810i and I love it. I debranded mine using wotan server. Definitely worth the 8 bucks. Makes it a much better phone if you aren't planning on using the email or IM apps that come with it. It should work for rogers too. The razor isn't that great of a phone in my opinion. Its hard to dial on, the keys don't have a tactile feel, and the music app just doesn't compare. The keys on the w810i are great. So is the autofocus camera. The UI is also amazing haha.

Just a great phone in general, I'd highly recommend it.

V3XX is NOT the same phone, at all, by far.

skip the v3t, its old and sucky. Go with the SE.

Interestingly enough, the rodger's site lists the v3t as having EDGE, when motorola's site says it only has GPRS

If u get to mod the phone or play with the programing u get to enable the Edge, surely rogers does that, besides and still, is a Craporola.

I would go with the W810i for sure. In my experience, its reception is better then Motorola's and its UI and functions are spades better. Plus, its battery life is excellent. The only thing that the W810i loses to the RAZR V3t on is build quality...I have had mine for a few months now and its starting to really squeak when I apply pressure to it.
