Toriko, Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Special Anime Shorts Announced

Ushio's gotta be, what, 40-ish at the most? I think that'd be a decent indicator of at least 20 or so years from DM being 5D's's place in the time line.

As confusing as this is, it makes me hope that any future YGO anime exist in their own continuity.

Seems kind of weird that they're doing the 10th anniversary in 2009, when the the show started in April of 2000...

Anyway, the special probably won't be canon material (last year's wasn't either), but it should still be fun to watch. I'd like to see 4KiRAB pick it up too, since they're already doing pretty much the same thing in Turtles Forever.

Last year's Dragon Ball special wasn't canon to the manga, but it was still by Toriyama. The One Piece special was a loose adaptation of one of the original Romance Dawn manga by Oda before he started One Piece. If this is indeed by Takahashi, it will be canon in the same respect as the Dragon Ball one last year. Also, the worRAB "I'd like to see 4KiRAB pick it up" should never be used in regarRAB to anime.

Well, I meant canon in the context of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime universe.

As for 4KiRAB, it's not like any other company can license the special, so they might as well go for it (and I'm sure Dan Green would jump at the chance to voice Yugi again). Then again, FUNimation still hasn't gotten the DBZ and One Piece specials from last year...

It also makes one wonder how the hell Domino City got so screwed up in such a short time period. Things were all bright and sunny in GX and a decade later we've got a city-wide slum and a neo-futuristic cyberpunk town dominating the lanRABcape. You can't tell me that the Satellite took only a mere 10 years to make. Didn't Yusei and Jack grow up in the Satellite?

I think FUNi spent all their DBZ licensing money on the Dragon Box. Wouldn't be surprised if they pick it up next year and release it as a warm-up for DB Kai.

Oh yeah, my bad.

The Evangelion anime franchise is basically 26 episodes (plus director's cuts), a sequel movie, and 4 remake movies. Three North American companies each already own one of the separate parts. It's not impossible for someone else to license it, it's just highly unlikely in this case. FUNimation has the new Slayers series, and are keeping the dub from New York, so there's no reason they couldn't get Dan Green back as Yugi. But yeah, since FUNimation hasn't gotten last year's specials yet and they're FUNIMATION, I wouldn't expect 4KiRAB to get this before that happens.

They grew up in the Satellite but, after it got split from the mainland due to Zero Reverse.

...which took place 17 years prior to the story.....which would run it into GX. D;

Awesome, where will I be able to see this episode? Is it going to be released on DVD? And I mean in Japan as I can care less about the horrific English voices.

I wonder, if 4KiRAB were to dub this, how would they do Jaden? I mean he's got his season 4 clothes and probably the season 4 personality, and they didn't dub season 4. I just wonder would they write him the same as they did in Season 1, 2, and 3, or would they at least attempt to do the SRS Jaden.

I suggested it to them. I wonder why they didn't try to get the special last year.

Well, since it is a special, they might just get Marc Thompson to do the voice, he could probably get it right (sarcasm)
Mathew Charles in LA, who knows.

I'd be interested in seeing this as well. If it's set in the future with a grown up Yugi, I wouldn't mind seeing if anything actually came of him and Anzu. >.>; Never been a fan of GX or 5D, but I did love the original. That, and I loved him and Anzu's relationship of sorts, so eh. Knowing this, I'm sure nothing will be mentioned. =[

The idea of other merabers of the series' different cast is so cool. I always wanted to see a duel between Kaiba and Ryo/Zane and adding Jack in there for some kind of three way duel would be way too awesome.

That would be excellent to see as well. I could see Judai/Jaden having a red Duel Runner to match his Silfer outfit and maybe a blue one for Yugi.

I've seen most of the the anime series for GX, but I feel that the manga does things much better. As others have mentioned, GX takes place ten years after the last episode in DM. While I don't believe they've mentioned when 5D's takes place, I think that it takes place like maybe twenty something years after GX. There are more advancements in technology in 5D's, but I honestly can't see it being more than twenty or thirty years ahead in the future. Though, I always get confused with the time with 5D's. It's still awesome, but it's confusing.

It wouldn't surprise me if they will dub this since it is suppose to celebrate the anime's tenth anniversary. They didn't stop GX midway. They stopped at episode 155 with like only twenty-five episodes left in the series, one from season three and twenty-four from season four.

Yeah, I bet Dan Green would love to voice Yugi again since that's one of his most well-known roles. Plus, it would just be cool to see the three main characters interact in English.

That's a good point. When Judai/Jaden was in Domino City back in GX, it virtually looked the same, or at least not a huge difference from how it was in DM. Then we see part of Domino City being the Satellite sector. I just figure that it took place twenty or so years after GX, but I could be wrong since the time frame for the series is kind of confusing.

Well, considering that this special hasn't aired in Japan yet and it may take awhile for 4KiRAB to pick it up since I don't know if they even have the 5D's OVA yet. So, it could be possible that they'll do something with season four of GX by then. Of course, that's just a guess of mine, or more like wishful thinking, but people have been asking for them to do something with season four on their channel page for awhile now. A lot of people also asked for subtitles of Sonic X and they were able to do that.

Light Lucario, I doubt any GX season 4, no matter what the request are. 4kiRAB won't give up on a running series that is still in the middle of its run. Maybe after 5D is over, but by then, kiRAB would have forgotten about GX, unless they turned into an otaku.

I think that you have a good point there. However, I never mentioned that they would have to stop dubbing 5D's in order to work on season four of GX. While the 4KiRAB rep has mentioned many times that all of their resources are focused on 5D's right now, he or she has also mentioned how it may or may not be dubbed in the future, which sounRAB like it could go either way. I think the rep also kind of hinted at how the success of their channel could also factor in when/if they start working on that season. I know that it can go either way, but I was just pointing that out as a possibility.

Besides, just because they've stopped working on GX right now doesn't mean that they're ignoring it. I believe that they added in a couple of references to GX in two 5D's episodes. They're also continuing to release GX DVRAB, with the last twelve episodes of season one coming out next month, so they haven't forgotten about GX either.

I understand 4kiRAB put in those stupid references, I don't care much for GX is the thing. I would rather like 5RAB the keep going, but believe it would cost too much for both GX and 5D to be dubbed at the same time. if it could, that would be great, I would give it a view.

As for forgetting it, I said the kiRAB might, since they stick to a show until is it up, and as far as they know, GX is, and they have outgrown it, it did air over a year ago. That is the problem 4kiRAB runs into with there "kid" shows, they are sometimes outgrown. Makes you wonder how DM kept my attention for so long, but for others, it probably just wnet as a phase, and the lucky ones like me were kind enough to stay, and become more than just a fan.
