...salt water fish tank.? I went to petsmart and they recommend that I add in TopFin bacteria supplement since I have only 30 pounds of live rock. I am planning to add more live rock overtime. Should I add the TopFin bacteria supplement to my tank? Why or why not?
No. top fin products r cheap rip offs. use SEACHEM STABILITY. To help cycle ur tank. i would also suggest adding more live rock than that before u add ur fish. 30lbs. is not enough to support ur system yet. 90+lbs. is critical. in order to accomplish and retain a stable environment for ur tank. make sure to have blue actinic lights and 10000K full spectrum lights. need a hydrometer to test ur salinity levels. protien skimmer. u might also want to invest in a master test kit.to monitor ur water levels during ur cycling period and when adding live rock. make sure that u know what u r buying from pet shops. especially when ur live rock. find a store u can trust cuz the sw tanks r a big investment to meas up. honestly i would stay away from the chain stores like petsmart for ur saltwater supplies and advice. cuz the employees barely know how to manage a freshwater aquarium little alone a saltwater setup. i wish u luck on ur tank.
