Topamax?

Ohhhh NO Xanax- that just stopped Topamax in its tracks for me!

Is Topamax used for sciatica? Does it help, and what are the side effects?

yepp!! topomax and xanax can put you into a deadly kind of sleep...i cant find it now on their website, but i came across that when i was prescribed topomax...and i called and yelled at the dr for not checkin my recorRAB before calling it in....and of course, they threw the blame on the pharmacist for not catching it. so yeah, you gotta be careful with it.
 
Topomax is used for nerve pain. Off the top of my head many people complain of not being able to remeraber alot of things once starting the med. It also is useful in weight loss.
 
I take Topamax for my sciatic nerve pain that runs down my left leg. I personally feel it works much better than other RX drugs I've tried in the past. I tried Neurontin and Lyrica before my doctor recommended Topamax.
The side effects are - Brain Fog...I experienced this for about the first 3-4 weeks I was taking Topamax, after that I noticed a big decrease in the brain fog. Drowsiness...I take it at bedtime b/c there is absolutely no way I could take it during the day and attempt to function. Weight Loss...Everyone is different, but Topamax completely kills my appetite. Most days I have to remind myself to eat.

Wow...I used to be prescribed topomax for migraines. The worst I had...that I noticed at least... was constant tingling in my hanRAB. I was NEVER told about these other side effects. Thank goodness nothing ever happened. :)
 
I take Topamax for pain for Lower Back, Migraines and for Weight Loss. Side Effects: Long term HAIR LOSS - Temporary, Weight Loss, Pain Relief. All this depenRAB on the dosage that you are put on.
 
please read up on it carefully and make certain that you do not take any of the drugs that could be deadly if you start taking topomax! one that i know of right off is xanax...but there are others..so please read on it.
 
It is used for sciatica, but sadly it did not help me at all. I hope it works for you. Take care
 
There is one piece of advice I would like to offer that I should have mentioned in my previous post.

If you, or anyone you know, are seriously considering trying Topamax you can search for other people's Topamax blogs and read about their experiences and side effects. I found it extremely helpful when I first started taking it b/c I was having terrible mood swings, which happens to be uncommon for me...I discovered from reading someone else's blog that another RX drug I was taking, Yasmin (birth control pill), was interacting with the Topamax...apparently, Topamax and any birth control pill usually equal disaster.
